Heacham Beach - it needs shutting down before someone gets hurt (Heacham Beach Holiday Park)
Member Name: Lifeguard
Advantages: Near the beach/cheap Disadvantages: Almsot everything I was an employee at this park resorts up until this morning. I was a lifeguard there for over a year and a half just as a summer job till I go off to university. Boy did this park have problems, from the outside things may look as though they are going well but on the inside - health and safety is breached in almost every possible way. The managerial staff there do not have a single ounce of intelligence and it is obvious why they are stuck in such dead end jobs. Numerous staff there were sacked and re-employed in other departments, house keeping is a prime example of the poor quality there. I spoke regularly to many of the owners and they told me and showed me the poor standards at which the house keeping perform their jobs! Many owners who sub let refuse to let house keeping do the cleaning for them. As for the entertainment - non existent, I worked alongside some of them and they were supposed to run programmes in the swimming pool - this really was not the case. They would come in and sit on the side for five minutes and when asked "are you going to be running your programme" their response was "I am here just to show my face so people know we are around" I asked them numerous times what they planned to do and their usual response was "nothing" it was unbelievable, the complex was run by a fool who created problems at another park and was just moved to heacham to solve the issue... it clearly did not work. The staff are just reshuffled and management do not understand what the people below them should be doing which then results in jobs not being done properly - last season I had an amazing time working for the sports and leisure manager who is now at california cliffs - one of the best most hard working men I have ever met. Then this season we had a new manager as a 17 year old to then be treated as a complete dunce was an amazement to me - I had hours cut my wages were not paid on time my manager did not do any work, he actually went into the complex to watch the cricket on television whilst he was getting paid to work. This meant two lads were left in charge of a swimming pool on their own without breaks or anything jeapordising everyones health and safety. It is unbelievable what goes on within one park - the park is poorly kept as well, in a poor attempt to make more money caravans are put closer to eachother reducing plot sizes and roads are kept poorly and as for the image of the park, it reminds me very much of walking round chernobyl, missing caravans weeds everywhere not a decent bit of ground in sight, my verdict as an employee the swimming pool is well kept when the manager is not around but the rest of the park is dismal, really needs sorting I am glad I left found myself a new job instantly at a much nicer, more attractive better paying caravan site in Hunstanton closer to my house in Hunstanton till I go to university, if you go to Heacham don't say I didn't warn you! Summary: Stay if you dare |
