“ Address: Clacton-on-Sea / Essex / England „
I first went to this Caravan Site a couple of years ago, when we used to tow our own caravan, as this has a few hardstanding pitches with a toilet block ect, but this site is really all about static caravans. So earlier this year ( in May actually). I exchanged some of my Tesco Clubcard Vouchers (£22.50) for a token for this Caravan Site. The break was for a midweek ( Mon-Fri ) holiday. It cost me a total of £3.00 as I had booked online I got further discount so the total for the holiday was £93.00. (I actually booked it in January so that was probaly why it was so cheap!). This is one of the Park Resorts sites.
We went for a Gold Caravan which is the top one that they do. The caravan we got was really lovely with double patio doors on the side. I believe that a lot of the vans are privately owned and are hired out by the site. The only complant I would have is that you are not allowed into your caravan until
4o'clock, if you are prepared to pay £10 you can get in 2 hours earlier ( but thats more than what the holiday cost me!!) but I chose not to, so we went into the Boathouse. This is the the sites Resturant which is nicely decorated
with leather settee's to lounge around on. They have TV's with one of the Sky music channels on quietly in the background. There is a decking area outside which is great for toddlers as it is all fenced in. I didn't eat anything
here, but plenty of people did and the food looked really nice with the prices not being overpriced for a holiday park. Also whenever they served up the meals they always came with silver covers over each meal which kept flies and wasps off!.
Next door is the Grange Entertainment Centre where you have a few arcade games and penny machines. You then enter a large room where you will see large windows at the far end, when you look out through the windows you are looking into the indoor swimming pool. It's not a massive
pool, but big enough for kids to have a lot of fun in. This is adjacent to the outdoor pool which has a large 200f watershute and seating areas on the sun terrace.
What I did like about this pool was the fact that every morning between 9.30am-10am it was an Adults only swim. So you could have a swim without getting kiddies swimming across you!
They have a lot of clubs for different age groups, first there is the Aqua baby club. This is for babies from 6 months and takes place between10am-11am.
Next is the Totz Club catering for 5+ to help them to develop their swimming skills this is daily from 11am. Finally you have Aqua Mania which starts at 12pm and involves a variety of floats and inflatables for all ages.
There is plenty for the children to do with there always being something going on:
Monday~~~~~5 A Side Football 1pm-2pm
Tuesday~~~~~Brazillian Futsal 1pm-2pm
Thursday~~~~~Basket Ball 1pm-2pm
Friday~~~~~Brazillian Futsall ( I haven't a clue what this is !!) 1pm-2pm
Saturday and Sundays~~~~~5 A Side Football and Archery 10am-11am
There is a charge for taking part in these activites which is £4 per person (which I personally think is a bit steep as it only lasts an hour!) and has to be booked up an hour before the start.
If you're not into the sports there is still a lot for kids to do as they have several clubs with activities going on all day long. There is Sparkys Krew Club which is for 5 - 11 year olds where they will be given a badge and can enter into lots of competitions to win prizes.
In this complex you will also find a large bar and stage for the evenings entertainment. As with all sites it has it daily Bingo at 7.00pm then from 7.45pm it is Sparkys Funtime with entertainment for 5 -11 year olds.
On Friday and Saturday evenings they have 18 & overs Karaoke in the Boathouse after 10.00pm, (I'm not sure if children are allowed in for this).
There is the usual "Park Resorts Has Got Stars" competitions for all different
age groups, 11 and unders, 12-17 years and over 18's .
There is a large enclosed play area with tubes and swings ect.. and basketball courts. The on site shop is quite big and very reasonably priced this could be because when you come outside the site and cross the road there is a huge Tesco's(which is really handy to have) so they have to be a bit cheaper than the usual site shops are.
It is a lovely relaxed site with a lot of trees and green areas the caravans are not right on top of each other either. Outside the site is a bus stop that takes you right into Clacton-on-Sea where you can go down the pier or sit in their beautiful flowered gardens( these gardens are really looked after and are so colourful ).
So I would recommend this site if you have children as there is always something going on to keep them amused, all the children we saw there seemed to be having a great time, but it is equally great if you go as a couple like we did just for a couple of days to chill out!!
Facility includes indoor and outdoor pool, an adventure playground for the kids and the Boathouse Restaurant.
