The Hoppings is an annual fairground which arrives at Newcastle Town Moor every June for 8 normally rain soaked days! However this year, it arrived on Friday 22nd June, and the sun has shone ever since. As an added bonus, this year, it will be staying for 10 whole days!

It is a culmination of lots of smaller travelling fairs from around the country which meet up here in Newcastle, and congregate to produce this huge funfair.

Entrance is free and the rides are fairly priced, ranging from 50p up to £5. There is 1 ride this year, called The Reverse Bungee which shoots you 100 feet in the year, and for this pleasure you pay £10.

There are numerous side shows and caravans with various Gypsy Rose Lees and her friends who are willing to tell your fortune. The atmosphere is great, especially when dusk sets in as all the lights on the rides and shows really come into their own.
