Advantages: Great fun, well kept
Disadvantages: Expensive food, can get busy
We visit our local Kid Space in Romford every week with out baby friends.
We started visiting here because they hold Gymboree classes here and we always thought it looked really fun!!
I suggested this to my friends as our other local soft play centre was quite boring and small.
There is so much to do in Kidspace Romford. I would say it is more geared towards older children as the play frame is very huge and the ball 'shooting thing' is clearly for older children which does take up most of the centre but the baby bit is fantastic. It is for under 3's only and although you tend to get older children in there, there is always a member of staff on hand to direct them to the correct place.
There is a huge sensory area which is fantastic ofr even tiny babies. My daighter (11 months) loves it as there is lots of different lights and colours and moving things and noises. It is completely padded which is always handy as even if she falls when cruising she never hurts herself.
The general clensiness of the whole centre seems ok. The equipment is always clean and you do see people cleaning on a regular basis but they seem to miss out the toilets and baby changing areas and these always seem dirty and smelly. There is only one baby changin facility which is a childrens play centre isn't alll that great.
The safety of the children is always put first and this is practiced throughout the centre. The gates are locked at all times so children cannot go in and out without a member of staff letting them, and people cant go in without a member of staff letting them. There are plenty of staff to advise what children should and shouldnt be doing to keep safe and on the climbing walls and ropes harnesses and helmets and provided.
The cost at the moment seems fair as my daughter is only 11 months. It is free for her and £2.50 for me to enter but I dread the day when she turns one as we will be paying £5.95 for her to enter and £2.50 for me. Visits will certainly have to be cut down as I thinks this is very steep. You can buy an annual pass for under 3s which costs £60 a year. In this instance you would oly have to visit 10 times to get your moneys worth. Unfortunately though this cost only covers a 2 hours session in peak times and you will be charged again if caught out staying longer than your ticket allows you. In off peak times though it is unlimited.
Partys are held here and they seem reasonable as food and entertainment is provided as well as 2 hours in the play centre. It is roughly £15 a head for a childrens birthday party which you may think is expensive but they do have certain deals which can make the partys cheaper.
They also have holiday sessions where you can send your child every day for a week in the holidays. I think this is quite expensive at £25 a day but I guess it can be cheaper than child care costs.
The have a huge cafe there where they sell an assortment of food from jacket potatoes to paninis and chocolate bars to crisps. Again though this is extremely dear at 70p for a small bag of malteasers, unfortunately though you cannot take your own food in so if you are hungry you just have to pay the price.
As well as the play frame and the sensory room there is a small go kart track and a football pitch in here. There are various activitys going on here and you recieve a free go on the go karts with every entry.
I would really recommend taking your children here for a day out. The staff are friendly and it is certainly a place your children will love. Be careful though because if you have more than 2 children it will be very expensive. Also cues in the holidays can get huge so get there early to avoid disappointment.
Summary: A great day out - off peak!!
