Advantages: Great play space you can see no matter where you sit
Disadvantages: Not always perfect, see review
Kidz Kingdom in Sheffield is a soft play centre that caters for toddlers upward although there are baby walkers and other forms of entertainment for smaller babies. I have been here quite a few times now and really enjoy it.
The play centre its self is clean and gives easy access to parents if their child is in need of help, there is a toddler section and then a larger part for older kids though free access is to all parts. The room is actually a warehouse and is decorated in a castle and dragon theme with damsels in distress too, very charming. They have toilets with steps for little ones that are toilet trained or still learning and in the baby changing room a very generous and useful supply of wipes, nappy sacks and hand wash are free to use.
There is a café called Dragons Diner that sells a fairly wide range of food and drinks from small snacks and jugs of juice to full hot meals, all a shade over priced but not ridiculously so. The cost of two hours starts from £3.25 at quiet times upwards and if it is slow they are pretty relaxed about what time you leave. If it is a busy time they give you a card with your maximum stay time on.
The staff I have had experience of have been very friendly and polite and always happy to help either myself or my son if they find him struggling or stuck (he is a climber and not 2 years old yet).
Kidz Kingdom do private party's available from £100 for 15 children, I have never been to one but know several others that have and have had mostly good experiences of this facility. With this you get some playtime in the soft play area and use of the private party room and party food . Also a few extras you can add on to your party if you wish to pay extra for them like a visit from Denzel the Dragon or helium balloons for guests or a disco.
I have to say I have little to complain about were Kidz Kingdom is concerned. The toilets are a little hard to work out the first time you go and a friend who went to a party was not impressed by the lack of enthusiasm by one member of staff and also found that same person a little inconsiderate when setting a good example for eager toddlers. She was sad to hear them asking the birthday child questions like are you free today as opposed to are you three today. This is not the sort of language I teach my child and I don't appreciate it at a facility I had paid for. If I considered hiring their party facility then I would mention this before the actual arrangements were made. Other then that it's a great place to go for a chat with friends while your children have great fun at the same time.
Summary: Great playspace in Sheffield
