A great and different way to spend a couple of hours

Lollipops Pottery Painting Studio is a family owned business that is located on Welford Road in Leicester.

We visited (three 21 year olds and two over 40 year olds) Lollipops Pottery Painting Studio in September 2009 to celebrate my friends 21st birthday. We wanted to do something fun and different and it was definitely that!

The way it works is you pay a studio fee of 4.50 and then you choose an item of pottery that you want to paint. The items include; figurines, plates, mugs, plaques, plant pots and many more interesting pieces. I saw a lot of plates and plaques with babies feet and hands on so they could make a great keepsake or present!

As it was a while ago I cannot remember the exact prices of these pieces, but they cost around 10 pounds. You could get cheaper and more expensive pieces depending on the size of the item.

To be honest I did think this was a little bit pricey but considering you get to take a unique home-made product away it was quite good.

We spent around 3 hours perfecting our items. They then glaze your items in the kiln and you can then collect your finished product within 5-7 days (which were of a high quality).

I haven't sampled the coffee shop, which is located on site. This is because the staff were kind enough to let us drink our own champagne! The coffee shop did seem to have a good range of drinks for both adults and children and also a few snacks.

I think what makes Lollipops pottery painting studio so good is the staff that work there. They are very helpful, giving you lots of tips to make your pottery better. Although they do not supervise children, they were very good with them.

This would be a great way to get children doing more creative things and it also a lot of fun for adults. In my opinion, I would say that although children of any age would be able to paint here and have fun the best age to start taking children here would be around 8 years old.

Overall this is a great way to spend a couple of hours for both children and adults. For more information you can visit Lollipops pottery painting studio at : http://www.lollipopsltd.co.uk
