Advantages: Everything is under one roof.
Disadvantages: Parking is expensive.
The Arndale Centre is located in central Manchester, on Market Street. It is home to a number of shops, stalls and eating establishments. The centre was built during the 1970's, but it was redeveloped in 1996, after the IRA bomb went off in the city.
The beauty of this centre is that it features all the major retailers, including: New Look, River Island, Next, Accessorize, Monsoon and Waterstones and they are all spacious stores with lots of stock. However it is also home to stores that are usually only found in towns, such as: Poundland, Aldi, Timpson's and the Card Factory. There's also a market within The Arndale, where you can buy fresh food and an array of bargain items, as well as a food hall where you can grab something to eat.
The Arndale Centre has a car park, which can get expensive if you are visiting for the whole day - its £10.00 for six hours (with the exception of a Sunday, when you will pay £6 for the whole day). However there are cheaper car parks in the locality and it is easy to access via train, tram and bus.
I work close to The Arndale Centre and I live very about ten minutes away from The Trafford Centre, so shopping-wise you could say that I'm spoilt. At the weekends it is much more convenient for me to visit The Trafford Centre because I get free parking and it is virtually down the road. However I do prefer shopping in The Arndale Centre because it is usually less crowded. But on Saturday I was reminded of just out great The Arndale Centre is.
It was my uncle's 50th birthday party on Saturday night and as usual I was on the last minute. I managed to pick up a nice Zippo lighter in The Trafford Centre, however I wanted to personalise it and there was nowhere for me to get it engraved instantly within the centre (I obviously didn't have time to send it away). As I am trying to save money at the moment, I also wanted to visit a cheap card shop - however, there aren't any located in The Trafford Centre. I thought that I would be able to get the rest of my present in my local town centre, but as it turns out that the local key cutter and engraver has shut shop. So, in a last ditch attempt to get sorted I decided to drive into Manchester and visit The Arndale Centre, where I was able to get my gift engraved and visit a cheap card shop. You see that is what makes The Arndale so good, there is an array of shops all under one roof and as well as high street stores, you will find cheap shops and a market.
I highly recommend The Arndale Centre, as it caters for all your shopping needs.
Five out of five stars.
