Mullion Holiday Park (Cornwall)
Advantages: all activities included, discounts to offsite attractions, friendly, low prices, nice accomodation
Disadvantages: swimmming pool opening times are not great
We always stay at Mullion holiday park (it is now partofthe Parkdean chain) We have stayed there at all timesof the year, both in & out of season. The last stay there, it was really quiet on site, which was really nice. We had a lovely caravan to stay in, we take a dog with us everytime, so we have to stay in a caravan suitable for dogs, but they provide a hoover in dog friendly caravans, plus they gave us a dog goodie bag :) with a large dog bonio biscuit, some dog (poo) bags and a list of dog friendly beaches & walks as well as details of the local vets & a day stay kennels if you wanted somewhere safe to leave your dog if you were going out for the day.
The holiday park has something to offer everyone, with different types of accomodation including static caravans of many different price ranges, all of a fantastic standards though, bungalows & there is a large area where you can pitch your own tent or caravan with electric hook up, although tents & caravans are only allowed on a certain times of the year.
There is so much to do on the site including an indoor & outdoor swimming pool, the indoor pool hosts a pirate ship, they add floats in the pool too. There are indoor showers & changing rooms.
There is a bowling alley which hosts 2 lanes, at £2.00 per person per game its not bad, & the balls are the hand held balls that are easy for children to use as well, in the same room there are pool tables, football tables, dart boards & a large flat screen tv.
There is evening entertainment for the whole family, kids first with sid & lizzie dancing & games (and occasionally a visit from Roly the dog) then there is cash Bingo for the adults & entertainment shows from Singers, Magic & talent contests for the adults to enter as well.
There are Sid & Lizzie groups for the children throughout the day & loads of times where they can meet up with sid & Lizzie.
There are 2 age groups for the children, there are Tot stars for the young children up to the age of 4 years & then star landers for 5 years up.
The younger group tot stars meet up at a much earlier time so they have finsihed well before mid morning so there is a large part of the day left for outings.
There is also a sports court, bouncy castle, pedal cars & much more to do on site, as well as an indoor play area (crazy caves) where there are ball pools, slides & climbing nets/ropes etc & a designated dog walking area.
There is an onsite laundry which is open untill 10pm, fast food, a reataruant, bar & an amusements which the kids love.
There are loads of machines in the amusements where the kids can play & win tokens every time they play, they can then redeem these in the shop for many different gifts. The coin machines now have keyrings and small gifts on top so that the children can win little prizes on the 2p machines too.
At the restaraunt once a week they hold a sid & lizzie breakfast for the children & families to go to, its great fun, sid & lizzie come in make you laugh & sit with you at the tables.
The swimming pool has set events on, which are stated on the timetable, such as toddler time first thing in the morning, pool fun with the inflatables (although they tend to put them in anyway outside of the specified time) The only thing we felt dissapointed by was that they opened at 9am but the first hour was toddlers only, then they shut just before midday so that the local schools could come in to use the pool, they then opened again just after 2pm and closed again just after 5pm, this didnt allow too much time for swimming, especially if you wanted to fit it in around the kids clubs or breakfasts.
The prices of the food at the restaraunt is good too, were considering going half board next time, which hopefully will be later on in the year again, the food is really nice.
You can get discount vouchers for local attractions at the holiday park reception, you can get them for gweek seal life sanctuary, & many other places too.
The local attractions in the area are great, there are so many, & the local beaches & cafes are fantastic & well worth a visit too. A visit to Mullion Chip shop just down the road in the village is well worth a visit, the nicest fish & chips i've ever had. My husband likes it as they do mushy pea fritters that he cant get anywhere else.
If you carry on past the chippy, you come to poldhu beach which is a nice dog friendly beach, it has a car park over the road & if you want one of the most spectacular views you can get, then drive past the beach and up the hill to the side, theres a small car park at the top of the cliff, we sit up there to eat our fish & chips, as do many people, the views are breath taking.
It really is well worth a visit, you will not be dissapointed & you too will want to return there again & again, we are already looking forward to 2 weeks there this easter & wondering when to book next.
Summary: A great holiday park you're sure to return to again & again
