Advantages: Get to see bombs up close and the people who are racing us to the bottom
Disadvantages: Brain washes our kids into thinking climate change is a trivial problem
We hate the way that you make killing fun and that you give our kids free entry to the event while we are trying to teach them about global respsonsibility.
We hate the way that you glorfy competition between nations when the planet's survival depends on nations cooperating.
We hate the way that you claim to represent the people who defend our security but ridicule the science of climate change.
We hate the way that you are an advert for the aviation industry, yet you pretend to be a charity.
We hate the way that the companies at your airshow will be the same ones that are supporting the 3rd runway at Heathrow leading to thousands losing their homes and laughing at those of us that care about climate change.
We hate the way that we are paying for the incompetent bankers and also paying for new planes for climate criminals.
We hate the way that the BBC and ITV give your show wall to wall free advertising, but never give it any criticism, just because you can wine and dine the reporters.
We hate the way that you play to the stupid and self interested minority in our society who are easily fooled by your loud planes, big bangs, expensive toys and promise of instant gratification and then you tell us that this is what people want.
We hate the way that your industry buys off the government that fobs us off.
We hate to see our police force being used as a private army in defence of your industry's destruction of our planet.
We hate the way that your industry patronises us with talk about being environmentally friendly by using biofuels, and then starves to death the billions who can not compete.
We hate your childish boasts about being the worlds biggest airshow, when everyone else is cutting back.
We hate to hear the queen lecturing us about climate change, and then seeing a 200 plane fly past for her.
We hate to see the business that you do with those terror regimes around the world.
We hate being forcibly reminded of our hatred for you by having your planes flying over us, and having no right of complaint about the noise.
We will be at your show to say "Screw you" to you that is screwing us.
see http://kevsclimatecolumn.blogspot.com for details of up and coming attractions at the air show.
Summary: Read the Hadley Centre's conclusions on a 7 deg C global temperature rise and then decide.

- 01/09/09 Stop moaning you stupid cunt. Next year stay at home and let people enjoy themselves. |

- 01/09/09 Royal We is that?
As I saw no protest there of any sort you must have been there on your own.
Sell out crowds both days, and despite the fact I repeatedly soaked on the Sunday I enjoyed all of it, apart from being mugged by the caterers and bars.
Whilst there is a corporate side to the show it is primarily a public event, at which people go to have fun, and raise money for the RAF Charitable Trust, you might remember the word fun before you became self righteous kill joy.
By the way aviation as a whole, around 2% of all emissions, according to scientists.
Th e vast majority of attendees were families, no doubt enjoying a day away from real life pressures, and donating at the same time.
Many worthy causes were also represented around the show ground.
Despit e the weather, and the much reduced participation in terms of aircraft, it was still a damned good day out.
Climate change in your obvious it's a man made thing we're killing the planet sort of way is only a theory, has everybody forgotten that there's been a climatic cycle since the planet arrived in the universe.
Mind you we as humans may not be helping, but it's going to happen anyway.
Not sure anyone was killed for the benefit of the show, but most just wanted to watch the show, and find out for themselves what the aircraft can do, people aren't stupid we know there is conflict in the world.
Guess what, there always will be because the human race is territorial, and there will always be someone wanting more.
At no point did I see or hear climate change being ridiculed, you must've been listening to voices in your head.
Wall to wall free coverage by the BBC and ITV, where was that then, only mentioned on a few news reports, used to be covered by the BBC live years ago, so there's actually less coverage.
Bank ers, don't see the connection.
I think the stupid and self interested minority were at your apparently solitary end of the argument, and I'm not going to comment on the rest of your ill informed rant.
Ne xt year stay at home, cuddle your eco friendly teddy and let the majority enjoy themselves.
Mi nd you if you want an air show to protest at that is soley in it for corporate reasons try Farnborough next year, but I'll still be there to enjoy myself, which corner will you be in I'll come and say hello, maybe |
