Advantages: Great staff - Great for kids!
Disadvantages: none
Myself, my partner and our little girl (16 months old) have just returned from a long weekend at Park Resorts, Sandy bay, Northumberland. We had a fantastic time, after reading numerous reviews online we were extremely worried - But had nothing to worry about!!
We arrived around an hour earlier so let the reception know, they took our mobile number and advised us they would call if we could check in early. We used this time to have a look around. our first thoughts were that the park looked very nice, the main bar area was reasonably sized with nice furnishings, there was also a small stage and dance floor to the right, and the swimming pool could be seen through the glass wall. Down the corridor was the 'boathouse' which was a reasonably sized function room with stage at the bottom and bar. This is where the entertainment for the weekend was held. At night time there was bingo for the adults, then it was 'sparkle/sparky' time where the characters came out and danced with the kids etc. After this there were cabaret singers/dancers and then disco till closing time. Good entertainment for the adults, and great for kids!
There isn't too much to do on site, although Newcastle and surrounding areas are close.
We arrived the first weekend the park was open, our caravan was spotless, the staff were FANTASTIC, extremely friendly, were great with all the kids and even really friendly with the adults. All the staff, bar staff included made this a great holiday, they went out their way to talk to you and make sure you were enjoying your holiday.
Only disadvantages, We had no walkway to our caravan and, as it had been raining grass was very muddy which was walked into the caravan :s
Shop - Very basic but fine for your grocery needs. Had very little for the kids to buy, unlike haven, they did not have any of the character merchandise that kids could buy, tho perhaps this may be a good thing, especially for family with lots of children.
We found drinks priced the same as we would pay at home, so no complain there. Food was standard pub food but was very nice. There was also a deal on between 12-5 you could get 2 meals for £10 - A bargain.
We never got down to the beach as the weather wasn't the nicest and everything we headed down that was the tide was always in right up to the rocks.
As you drive into the caravan site, our caravan was on the left, this did seem to be the nicer part of the site, beyond the reception and to the right looks a little run down.
We booked this through the sun holidays and we really do feel that we got a bargain. We would defiantly return here!
Although not as big and well known as Haven, a holiday is what you make of it and we made the most of ours and had a great time!
It seems people only write reviews about bad experiences, not about the good. If you have booked this holiday park, keep an open mind and have a great holiday!!
Well done park resorts!
Summary: great
