Advantages: Fun day out.

Disadvantages: You can get sick of the sight of flowers.

The Shrewsbury Flower Show. First of all, don’t let the name scare you, it is not all about flowers. OK, maybe the main attraction is flowers but it is also a great day out for the whole family. There are flowers for the horticulturalist of the family, there is garden furniture for sale for the lazy person, there is plenty of cider and other alcoholic drinks for the men and there are amusements for the kids.
At one end of ‘The Quarry’ (this is the park that it is held in) there is an arena where there are displays, shows, fun and amusements.
There are about 3-4 big marquees for the flowers and you could spend ages in there looking at them, but if you’re like me then you’ll find that they all look the same after 10 minutes and that is the time that you know you should head off to the beer tent.
At the end of the day there is a magnificent fireworks show and then it all ends (hopefully not with rain as happened to me in 2001).
All in all I think that it is a great day out for the family.

Summary:
