Advantages: Lots to do, beautiful area
Disadvantages: couldn't fit everything in.
Last year I holidayed at Fallbarrow Holiday Park (a park run by the company South Lakeland Parks), and have an absolutely brilliant time.
A family of 7 of us all went to Fallbarrow together - me, my partner, my parents, my brother and his 2 children, who were at the time 5 and 2. We went in October last year, as my niece was on half term break.
More information on Fallbarrow can be found at http://www.slholidays.co.uk/Fallbarrow, we also booked online where there are some really good special offers!
* Accommodation *
We stayed in Green Farm Cottage which about £700 for 7 nights, which we all agreed was extremely reasonable.
The cottage is absolutely stunning, it has such character and we all fit in very comfortably. With three Double bedrooms we were all happy. A single and also a pull out double sofa bed, we were laughing - Plenty of places for us all to sleep!
All bedrooms were en-suite which made the mornings much easier, as with 5 adults and two children needing to get ready each morning it saved a lot of time (and arguments) having a bathroom between 2 rather than 7.
There is private parking at the cottage with Room for 3 cars which allowed us all to travel down separately, with us all working different schedules and coming from different places they was more useful then you might imagine - it also allowed us to do different things some days.
There is a lovely BBQ area for a lovely early evening BBQ - my brother loved this because it gave him the opportunity to show us his skills as a master chef.
* Holiday Park *
Fallbarrow Park is set in the perfect location between the borders of Lake Windermere and the beautiful parks of the Lake District. I found it a very relaxing and tranquil place even thought we never seemed to stop because there was so much to do.
There is a lovely bar and restaurant on site with lovely good and a great atmosphere. A play area outside for the kids kept the occupied before and after meals or just while awe needed a break. There is a games room that the fellas enjoyed and a picnic area that we took our sandwiches to once or twice during our stay.
* Local Attractions *
There was so much to do in the Lake District and Windermere during our holiday for both the adults and the kids. We visited so many local attractions while we were at Fallbarrow Holiday park, including: South Lakes Wild Animal Park, The World of Beatrix Potter, my brother took the girls to the Aquarium of the Lakes while my partner and I went on horse riding. We all took a bike ride in Grizedale Forest and went on the tour of White Scar Caves. We have a lovely day on a Windermere lake cruise, ice creams and general fun down by the lake. My parents and I also thoroughly enjoyed the dove cottage and Wordsworth museum while the boys took the kids to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite railway. We managed to do so much in our holiday but there is so much more that we could have done, we have all said that we will definitely take a trip back (which we did to White Cross Bay, the sister site) and say loads more - plus returned to some of our fav. attractions too.
* Recommended? *
I would definitively recommend this holiday park, we have a fantastic time, and the kids absolutely loved it.
