A great place to buy your holiday home!

Marina Caravan Park is situated in Glasson Dock, just outside of Lancaster in Lancashire. The park is a holiday home park, sorry to all you thinking oooh we can go for a week...its an owners only park.

We got ourselves a 3 bedroom (sleeps 8) static caravan on Marina Caravan Park around 5 years ago now, and in 2006 we actually moved in there full time.

Marina Caravan Park is relatively small, holding around 150 caravans, with around 20-25 of the caravans housing full time people, meaning theres always a smiling face around!

      Amenities:

Pool- the pool onsite is indoor, but is also kind of outdoor!! Its been refurbished over the last couple of years from an outdoor pool which couldn't be used in cold weather, to a pool which has a glass covering, which opens up to let the sunshine and warmth in. There is a lovely decking area to sit and relax with a drink, or sit reading a good book or just catching the rays.

The pool-bar is a lovely little bar with an outside smoking area for those who feel they must lol, but also you can sit out there on a nice warm night enjoying a drink. The pool bar has been refusrbished to a very high standard and now has two plasma screen TVs (which they show sport matches on and other special events), fire places and comfortable seating areas where you can sit back and relax, the drinks I must say are a little on the expensive side, and so we found we would only go in there on special occasions or once in a while due to the expense of buying drinks for 4 adults and a child, just one round costs £20. The bar is open every Friday and Saturday night, and some other days during the week (I must admit I'm not 100% sure which days!), on Saturday nights, games are played in the bar, Bingo and a raffle is done every week with most of the money made put into a prize fund and some been kept aside for the Childrens Christmas party which is always amazing!!!

Every so often the bar has an event on (this is normally once a month) this is usually a singer :-) this is always good fun and they put on a buffet and make an event of it. Also they have special parties at Christmas and New Year which are also good fun!!!

There is also a games room with a pool table and a range of arcade games which will keep the kids and adults alike amused for a while!!

The caravan park is situated just a 5 minute walk from the lovely village of Glasson Dock, which is a small village with a park, cafe, 2 pubs, smoke house, ice cream/take away van, village shop/newsagents. Its a great little place to visit, especially if you like boats as there are a collection in the marina!!!! If you do go I recommend The Victoria pub for a delish pub lunch and then maybe a game of Crown Green Bowling on their bowling green!!!

The park is also a 10 minute drive to the Historic City of Lancaster, if you don't drive there is a very reliable bus service which stops right outside the park every 2 hours which goes to the Lancaster Bus Station situated in the city centre, also the bus goes right up to Knot End meaning a great day out.

Behind the park there is a tow path along the Lancaster Canal, where you can walk all the way up to Galgate, on your way you'll go past the Mill Inn a gorgeous little pub with AMAZING meals at great prices!!!! Its a must to stop at on a little canalside walk!

So in conclusion, if your looking to buy a holiday home, prices between £11k and £50k, then Marina is definitely somewhere you should consider! Its relaxing but is only a short drive away from the hussle and bustle of city life!

I miss it since moving out and back into a busy town, and I would move back in an instant if I had the money to buy a holiday home for myself!!!!
