We've just arrived home after a fantastic weekend at White Cross Bay and I had to log on to let you know.We booked the holiday from www.slholidays.co.uk, who are also the park operators, where we got a great deal on a holiday lodge for the weekend. The park had everything we needed for the weekend, including places to eat out, places to buy food to cook at the lodge, a bar and a swimming pool. The park was really close to Bowness which had loads going on. We chose to go for a boat trip on the lake which was lovely. We wanted a quiet gettaway for the weekend with a few activities thrown in, we got that and more at White Cross Bay. Even the weather held up for us!Will visit again.

Great park, great facilities, great location

White Cross Bay has to be one of the best places we had ever stayed at in the Lake District, which is why my partner and I bought a holiday lodge there a number of years ago.

The park itself is fantastic, plenty of friendly holiday makers and other owners as well as helpful staff. There is lots to do at White Cross Bay ranging from the indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym to a family lounge bar, indoor amusements and a shop that has all the essentials for your stay.

White Cross Bay is ideal if you're looking for somewhere to stay as a base to explore the surrounding area. Bowness is only a short distance away and is full of shops, places to eat and drink and lots of things to do for days out.

We bought a holiday lodge at White Cross Bay as we thought it would be nice to have somewhere special to stay when we visited the lakes, rather than a B&B. The range of lodges are incredible and the staff at White Cross Bay were great in helping us choose the right one for us.

Great park for kids and parents alike!

What a fantastic park White Cross Bay is! It has everything going on, it's dead close to local amenities and attractions and is home to the comfiest caravan I've ever stayed in!

My wife, son and myself went to White Cross Bay at the weekend and had such a wonderful time. There was lots to do in the park that kept our son busy such as the children's play area and swimming pool, which meant for an early night for him, not that we were complaining!

Non-child activities include the rest of the leisure facilities such as the sauna, gym and bar, which has recently been refurbished according to the staff.

The staff were very helpful during our stay, pointing out places we might want to visit, such as the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, The Aquarium of the Lakes and Go Ape.

The caravan was spacious but cosy at the same time. The decor was modern and it made me wonder how much they are to buy. I love the idea of being able to go on holiday whenever I like, and to such a lovely park too.

The local area is absolutely stunning and there are plenty of places to eat and drink and be entertained.

We hadn't spent any time at our holiday lodge at White Cross Bay since before the floods. The site seems to be back to normal now.

The kids were excited to be back, and even with the children's play area being out of action while we were there there was still plenty to do, such as go swimming, go for walks in the woods, hire bikes and go for a ride and so much more.

Owning a lodge at White Cross Bay means we don't have to think about booking somewhere to stay, we're right by the lake and a stone's throw away from Bowness.

The staff have always been very helpful with us, from helping us choose the right lodge to keeping us up to date with what's going on locally so we can see and do things we might not have otherwise have known about.

Our lodge is big enough for the four of us and is spacious yet cosy and very comfortable.

      Our Holiday
      - - - - - - - - -
There were a group of about 7 family members (myself included) who were looking to go on holiday together. After looking at www.slholidays.co.uk we decided on White Cross Bay in the Lake District. I have to say we all have a thoroughly fantastic time and I would definitely recommend it and we will be going back.

We split the party into two groups - I was with 3 other adults and 2 kids. We paid for 7 nights in a classic lodge and it was £606 - Bargain! Split between us 4 adults it was just £150 for seven nights in the Lakes.

      Our Lodge
      - - - - - - - -
The classic lodge that we stayed in included 1 double with 1 twin bed in a room, which my boyfriend and I had, then 1 double with 2 twin beds in which my brother, his wife and their 2 small girls had. There was more than enough room for us all.

When we got there the electricity and gas was on, bed linen and duvets were there awaiting us. The gorgeous wooden cabin really made us feel like we were in the rustic woodland. It was absolutely beautiful; the kitchen was brilliant and very lovely. There is a wooden deck and balcony to watch the sun setting from, which was lovely sat out there once the kids were in bed with a nice glass of wine. For when it goes a little cooler in the evening there was a fire in the lounge that provided the perfect setting to sit on the couch and cuddle. The kitchen came fully equipped with fridge, microwave, Toaster and kitchen utensils.

      The Park

Our stay included a leisure pass to the swimming pool and leisure facilities. This gave us access to the gym (which the boys loved), my sister-in-law and I preferred the sauna. There was a lovely lounge bar where the kids were welcome with a beer garden for the adult to sit in while the kids played on the adventure play ground. There was a shop for all the basics that I always forget, and a great restaurant on-site for a relaxing, delicious evening meal.

We absolutely loved it at White Cross Bay. The setting of Lake Windermere was idyllic and the surroundings unbelievably beautiful. The park facilities were amazing, we couldn't have asked for anything else. And the location placed us slap bang in the heart of the Lake District.

      Things To Do

During our week stay there really was so much for us to do. We went to the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, which I absolutely loved and ended up sponsoring a tiger called Tess (after our dog). The little ones loved the World of Beatrix Potter and the Aquarium of the lakes, although for older children they might not keep their interest for long. The grand parents looked after the kids one day and we all went mountain biking to explore the Lakes. We took a leisurely trip across Lake Windermere on a Lake cruises, which was lovely (although take a cardigan as it is colder than you'd expect). The boys enjoyed a spot of fishing and golf while us girls went shopping in Ambleside and Kendal. Finally there was Go Ape at Grizedale forest which everyone enjoyed, although it was takeaway that evening cause we were all to tired to move.

We had an unbelievably adventurous, fun holiday at White Cross Bay and will definitely be returning in the near future.
