Advantages: Friendly staff., Welcoming atmosphere.

Disadvantages: Looks old fashioned.

From the outside the cinema in Burnham-on-Sea looks very old fashioned and a bit run down, but inside it is a pleasant traditional cinema.

The original foyer and downstairs of the cinema has been converted into a social club, so entrance to the cinema is now upstairs at the side of the social club. The entrance stairs and the rest of the interior has been very nicely decorated and obviously the place is lovingly looked after.

Tickets are bought from the confectionery counter where very friendly staff greet you. Adult tickets are £4 each and £3 for children. If you fancy some popcorn you can buy it here in a plastic bucket, when you also get a free plastic spade. So after eating your popcorn you can take away your bucket and spade.

This single screen cinema has seating for about 200 people and the seats are quite comfortable. There is a good wide screen with digital surround sound which makes it a very pleasant place to watch a film.

When we went to see a film at this cinema there was only about a dozen other people there. At one point a couple of the youngsters were talking a bit loudly, but one of the members of the staff from the cinema very quickly asked them to keep quiet and it was good to see that the staff are trying to help everybody to enjoy the film.

The cinema has four performances a day and when we were there this was three different films. I imagine that a small cinema like this sometimes has difficulty in getting the very latest films, but the ones showing when we were there were still very new.

This is a good traditional cinema that I think every town should have so that everybody can get to see films as they should be seen, on a big screen.
