Tansley Sunday Market & Car Boot Sale (Derbyshire) Other UK / Ireland topic

Newest Review: ... about 9am the field was practically empty. There were hardy any sellers or buyers and the market consisted of about 3 stalls. This one was the first one of the season so I was expecting it to be a lot busier. We were there all of 10 minutes if that. Total waste of £1.40 entrance fee. As it had started to rain a lot of people headed for their cars and trying to leave the field suddenly became bedlam. There was no order or staff trying to sort it out, it was just a free for all with the bigger cars I.e 4x4's pushing their way out first with the littler cars all getting stuck in the mud. We also got stuck. Rear wheel drive cars were havi... more

this carboot is very good when the weather is good, if its been raining it can be dodgy getting out of the field, the boot is in 2 places through out the year, one field they use is on a hill, this is the dodgy one, the other field is on the left just off the main road, this field is a lot better for getting off if its been raining heavy, all in all this boot is very good when the weather is good, not so when it is bad obviously, you also have the extra bonus of brilliant views, amazing walks, and matlock/ matlock bath just down the road, i would give tansley carboot 8.5 out of ten.

I went to this Boot sale today which is supposed to stay open until 4pm.I arrived at 1pm and it was finished.Perhaps they have problems getting enough customers, though that doesn't suprise me as they try to fleece you by charging £1.40 to get in! forget it!

We decided to go to this car boot as we'd seen signs everywhere advertising it. It was 15 mile away from us but we decided to go and see what it was like as it said carboot/Market. when we pulled up at about 9am the field was practically empty. I did my first carboot 3 weeks ago at Tansley as i decided to clear my loft out of what i thought was junk and only fit for the local skip it was a beautiful sunny day and was amazed how helpful the staff was i didnt have a clue were to set my table up but was greeted with a very polite young man telling were to go .within minutes of setting my stall up i was selling items very quickly and couldnt get the boxes out of my little trailer fast enough i think the old saying of ones mans junk is another mans treasure is true because i took £140.00 by the end of the day, i am certainly going again as i have discovered a lot more collectable items in my old garden shed .

HiI'm a regular visitor to Tansley Car Boot Fair, and must say my experiences have all been positive. The stallholders are always remarkably friendly, it must be one of the healthiest venues (all that clean fresh air!) and as for the views....!The staff are very supportive (particularly a few years ago when I lost the key to my steering wheel lock, and they tried all the keys on numerous bunches to see if they'd fit. I eventually had to borrow a mobile phone from one of them to call for a taxi to get me home for a spare key!! Not cheap to Derby and back!)Anyway, I just wanted to say 'thank you' for the excellent facility. Long may it continue!!
