Advantages: Plenty of stalls
Disadvantages: Can be cold on a windy day
I do enjoy going to a car boot on a Sunday morning. It is one of those places that you never know what you will find. Tansley is one of my favourites.
Tansley car boot is outdoors on a field. A few miles out of Matlock the exact field varies throughout the summer as it moves to about 3 different fields but it is always well sign posted once you arrive in Tansley.
It runs on a Sunday from except during winter but also run extra car boots on a bank holiday Monday.
To park it costs £1.20 which also includes entrance for driver and all passengers in the car.
The field is well laid out. The number of stalls does generally depend upon the weather. As it is on top of a hill on a bad day it can get particularly windy.
The number of attractions for children seems to be increasing, there is a huge blow up slide, an enclosed bouncy castle and go karts. Unfortunately my son is too young for them but still wants to go on them. He has happily sat watching them today though while eating a hot dog.
There are quite a few vans round the sale selling burgers, hot dogs and hot pork sandwich. A hot dog or burger cost £2.50 or a hot pork sandwich is £3.50. There is also a potato van and today there was a van selling Dunkin doughnuts which I have not noticed before.
The stalls are mostly the usual car booters stalls but also a few market stalls which are selling new items.
The joy of a car boot is to find a bargain. I mostly buy children's books and toys. As children grow out of their toys so quickly I don't see the point of spending a fortune on them. I can buy good quality toys for my son at a fraction of the price. Today there was quite a lot of baby knitwear and I was able to buy a blanket for my friend who is due to give birth but as her mother is no longer here is missing the home knitted baby ware.
There are plenty of stalls selling fruit and vegetable, and a meat wagon selling meat which my neighbour has bought from a few times and highly recommends it. There was also quite a few plant stalls.
Tansley market is a great place to go on a sunny day and there is always something there for everyone.
Summary: A great car boot on a sunny day
