      Very helpful

      On Saturday me and my friends decided to do something a little different. That is when we found out about the nightcrawler express at the Churnett Valley Railway. Halloween is always fun anyway but we never do much to celebrate so we booked our tickets and went along for a funfilled night of scary entertainment and let me tell you it was absolutely brilliant.

      The Churnett Valley Railway station that is at the following address;

      Churnett Valley Railway
      Cheddleton Station
      Station Road
      ST13 7EE

      You board the train at Cheddleton and you travel through a haunted tunnel. The tunnel is decorated with skeletons and bats so it really is good fun. The trains are proper steam trains and you get on them at your allocated time and off you go on a trip. The ride takes about half an hour and you also pass another station with people all dressed up there entertaining you.

      On the train you sit down and scary music is played over the speakers. All train conductors are in Halloween costumes so sitting on a carriage on a steam train and I felt like I was Harry Potter on my way to Hogwarts. Then the occasional mummy walking around just made the whole experience that much more fun and I have to admit it, a bit strange.

      You get off the train at another station and now I will tell you what was going on at each station.

      Ok so at Cheddleton there was a band who were actually very good. They were singing some old songs and some new ones so a really good mix. Then there was a small souvenir shop which was sweet as you don't often see them on train stations now. It sold lots of Thomas the Tank and things about the Churnet Valley Railway.

      Then there was activities for the children and they could make cardboard bats and ghosts and there were lots of staff there to help out. Everybody was having a good time and this attraction was very busy all of the time. Then there was a room full of a skeleton family so you could have a spooky picture taken by them which was very funny and of course we did.

      Then there was a tarot reader which again was quite busy so you did have to queue. On a non-running train there was the devils kitchen which sold chips, pizzas and hot dogs and absolutely yummy. It was fun at this station as you were actually on the two platforms so it had a real magical feel to it. It was busy and so much fun to see everybody walking around with their costumes on. There was also a bar here so you could have a drink.

      Then you go to Kingsley and Froghall station which has just as much entertainment there.

      The main thing here was the haunted mansion which was absolutely hilarious. You walked in and there were lots of people jumping out at you in the dark. They you walk through some truly terrifying scenes such as from the Exorcist and Beetle juice. It was so much fun and kids and adults just loved it. The actors were all from a dramatics society locally and they were brilliant.

      Then there are lots of people here walking around including these four girls who were all dressed up in strange clothes and wigs. They walk right up to you and stare at you and then when you are not expecting it, scream in your ears. Scary but a lot of fun at the same time.

      There was a bar here, a burger van which smelt delicious and a twister ride for people. Then there was a crystal ball reader, a funeral parlour and prizes for the kids at another booth.

      Then when you have had a look at this station you just get on the train back to wherever you parked your car. There is plenty of car parking at both stations and we did not have a problem at all even though we were quite late.

      We had a brilliant time here and will definitely return next Halloween. Tickets were just £10 each which in my opinion was a bargain and we all really enjoyed ourselves. It is so much fun going on a train and being entertained thoroughly. If you like Halloween and can get to this area then this is a must for next Halloween. Trust me no matter what age you are, you will enjoy yourself.

      Thanks for reading.
