Advantages: It a lovely romantic gift if you get there

Disadvantages: Lose money, be treated like a second class citzen and be bitterly disappointed

We have had a horrible experince with Virgin balloon. We booked 3 times over the year that we had a voucher valid for, all of which were cancelled. On enquirying what conditions were sitable we were given wind and land speeds and weather which rarely occur together in Scotland! Much like other customers we had difficulty getting dates which were suitable as many people were trying to book. Dont expect sympathy from Virgin though they just think you should travel hundreds of miles to get to an alternative destination regardless how early your flight is!
The third flight was cancelled just before they stop flying for winter and I phoned and got the voucher extended which you can do if you have booked 3 times in the year and was told it was extended for a year basically restarted. Only when I went to book another flight was told this was inaccurate, they had no record of my conversation and my voucher was null and void but thanks for the £600. They refused to let us speak to a supervisor or manager just to write in. Even if I had managed to extend it it would have been for 6 months - yes the same 6 months they dont fly.
Overall the flight is hemmed in with so many clauses Virgin can wriggle out of doing anything for you. You spend your time phoning them and phoning to check the flight is on and rearranging your day that the flight would have to be pretty spectaular to warrant it. The customer service is awful, fairly sure they train the staff to be unable to take initative or show emotion. They promote you booking online cause its less work for them!
Save your money! They dont allow you to give no stars so the 2 stars virgin does have is saying nothing!

Summary: If your a gambling man go for it!

Dear A Campbell,

We are very disappointed to hear that you are not satisfied with the level of service that you have received from Virgin Balloon Flights. It is the nature of the beast with any weather dependent experience that customers may be unlucky and not get to participate for a number of attempts. In our case, this can be exacerbated by customers having to cancel themselves off flights too as you are aware. Virgin Balloon Flights do not expect their customers to travel hundreds of miles to alternative sites but do try to ensure that if one launch site is unsuitable that there is an alternative available for our passengers to enable the flight to go ahead.

Our Customer Service team are highly trained and experienced and will aim to get our customers flying wherever possible, only on the occasion that a manager is unavailable are customers advised to write in.

As with any purchase both parties are bound by terms and conditions which can be frustrating at times but are there to safeguard the rights of both parties.

Our website is available throughout all hours of the day and night and we believe this is a benefit to our customers, not a convenience to ourselves.

Kin d Regards
