Advantages: Fun once you are up up and away!!

Disadvantages: Stressful and time consuming trying to get booked.

Received Virgin tickets for a balloon ride as a Christmas gift.
Wanted flight in June from Bristol as this is where my daughter lives and the family wanted to come along.
Had a problem getting booked and e mailed.
Told that "We take bookings 6 to 8 weeks in advance". I would check EVERY day and then when flights came on they were FULL! maybe 12 weeks in advance.
After trying for weeks I phoned up and explained my problem. I had a Christmas present which could be worthless. We decided to fly from York as it was nearer and if cancelled was less travelling.
The girl checked and said I could book a flight that was not yet on line.!!!!!!! So I guess this is what happened. Anyway it was for 28th August and guess what? Cancelled due to high winds.
My advice would be not to buy tickets for gifts but to phone and check if the date you want is available. Maybe cancelled anyway but at least that could give you a few more months grace if you want the flight some months away.
Have since been on a flight, 6.30 start. Really enjoyable and we didn't gain any real height as some people preffered to stay low.

Summary: Problem booking as some flight dates come on line FULL.
