Toys R Us Pink Folding Junior Slide
by wazza115
Sorry guys if you are reading this and there is a picture of dog food, I am about to review a Pink Folding Junior Slide from Toys R Us, I have dropped Dooyoo a line about this - not sure what has happened
******************************************************************
I actually hate going to Toys R Us now (with ... Lauren) due to the 'I wants' from her when we are there yet when she was younger, I used to like going at least once a month (I am ashamed to say it but she was a little spoilt). As the summer months approached a few years ago, I decided I wanted to buy her a slide for the back garden but didn't really want to buy one online without viewing it first so off we went!
*The Product:*
At the time I brought, the slide was available in two different colours, blue steps with a red slide or purple steps with a pink slide. I choose the pink and purple version
It is available in store but showing out of stock online at the minute and retails for £19.99 but at the time I purchased, it was £14.99.
The slide is exclusive to Toys R Us and not available in any other shops.
There is a maximum weight of 30kg and suitable from two years and above.
Assembly was really easy as the slide only comes in two parts, the steps and the slide (even I managed to put this one together!). Underneath the top of the slides there are two holes where you put the top of the steps, when there are correctly placed just push gently and you will hear a click, this indicates there are secure on the correct position.
The assembled dimensions are 107 (l) x 26 (w) x 50 (h) cm.
The slide has three steps and the steps are quite wide which I felt was great as it meant those little feet could not slip off. The 'edging' at the top is quite high which I felt was another great safety feature as Lauren could hold onto them and I felt it acted a bit like a little safety barrier.
To dismantle, just pull the steps hard and the slide can then be folded as the steps fit nicely to the underside of the slide and make it really easy to store in the shed or garage. It was also supplied dismantled which means I was able to fit it into the boot of my Corsa with no problems at all.
*My Thoughts:*
The slide is now 3 years old and is showing very little signs of sun damage, has been kept outside all that time.
When I first brought it, Lauren was forever up and down and because it was quite small, she wasn't scared of climbing up the steps (although at first I was a little wary!). Last year, she started experimenting more as when the padding pool was out, she liked to put the base into the pool and slide down it - this provided many hours of entertainment, not only for her but for us when she went a little too fast!
Lauren also loved to send her dolls down the slide, or line up several toy cars at the top and push them all at once to see who wins.
The price is really competitive, you can pay a lot more for branded ones from Little Tikes etc these were either too big for a two year old and way too expensive. I also felt assured by buying from a large store that should there be any problems, they would be able to help me.
I really loved the colours, for me, if I buy anything for Lauren, I like it to look really girly and this certainly did the trick. There is another colour available if you didn't want this one. The colour is really bright and bold which I loved too.
Lauren will be 5 this year and I think she has started to outgrow it now, but the amount of times we have used it, I feel this offers excellent value for money.
I would recommend this slide, 5 out of 5 stars from me!

Toys R Us Steer N Grow Trike
by Abs2uLOTT
Fabulous buy for our son from Ebay. It had only been taken out twice so we had a real bargain.
Its had plenty of use since we've had it and if you're looking for something that's going to last for your ever growing child, this sort of thing is definately recommended! It's built to last, has lasted a year already and has ... plenty of wear in the tyres yet! It's been used ALOT and been pushed for miles.
What attracted us to buying this for our sons first Birthday was the side bars to keep child nice and safe, with the extra harness as well. The parental steering bar was firm and sturdy which made the trike easy to steer, even with the growing weight of our son.
Our son was able to sit, stand and had just started walking when we first started using it. Basically, he was able to support himself in it, hold the handlebars and we felt reassured by the harness and surrounding bars that he was nice and safe.
The purpose of the trike is to safely push baby around with the parent handle and once baby becomes a toddler, they start to learn to move on the trike themselves. FAB!
My son has idolised this trike since day one. He has happily sat smiling away whilst we'd push him around the park or go for a short walk somewhere. Now he is almost 2, he is constantly saying ' bike ' ' walk' as he wants to go out on it! Cute!
The parent handle is easy to steer, and baby loves it when they have their hands on the handlebars and they move as you steer. I guess it feels to them as if they are driving it. This is especially exciting now my son is almost 2 as he sits on it and says ' bruummm brummmmm'!!
The convenient tray at the back of the trike is big enough to pop something you need to take out with you in, ie a drink, wet wipes, toys even and of course as seen in the picture there is the little rucksack for other items which we used to find useful for popping our phone and keys in! (saves taking your own bag out!) The sun canopy keeps the sun off baby's head and the foot rest can be tucked away when your toddler is old enough to peddle away himself.
Negatives.... not many really although we went through about 3 months of not being able to use it full stop. This was when my son at about 18 months, decided it was great fun to take his feet off the resting tray and place them on the floor. It then became impossible to push. We'd had 6 months use out of it though before he discovered this. We were out of action with it for about 3 months and now are back to using it with him almost 2. He seems to have forgotten all about putting his feet on the floor... phew! He's also been having a go at trying to peddle, although he's not quite able to yet.
It's lovely to see also that he enjoys playing with it in the garden. He likes to push it along and get on and off it himself. This bargain buy was obviously built to last and it's lovely to see how he's now able to get on and off it himself now, but still enjoys going out with us pushing him on it. He can start going a bit crazy with the handlebars trying to steer it himself now as we are trying to push which is quite funny, but now that he is understanding more and more we only have to say ' be careeeeful' and he generally stops doing it (with a cheeky smile)
Very impressed with this buy and a trike worth investing in! I am expecting it to last another couple of years!! Read the complete review |

Toys R Us Steer N Grow Trike
by vickymarks
My partner and i purchased the 'Toys R Us Steer N Grow Trike' for our sons first birthday in 2008. We thought it was a good buy costing £69.99 (at the time)
The bike had several features that appealed to us.
- The seat harness (to keep them nice and safe)
-The side bars (to keep them extra safe!!)
- ... Parental steering (Twisting the handle whilst pushing will steer the bike)
It also had added bonus's :
- Bright colours (blue, red, yellow)
- A Sun canopy (excellent for providing shade on sunny days)
- The foot rests for younger children that cannot peddle/ reach the peddles (can be tucked away when the child can peddle by themselves)
- A rather large trunk on the back of the bike (handy for keeping toys, drinks ect..)
- PLUS a little rucksack for other items i,e keys / baby wipes / phone (attaches to the bike).
We first used the bike as seen in the picture (with the safety bars and foot rest attached) My son loved sitting in the bike 'steering' and it made a nice change from having him strapped down in the pushchair. I felt happy knowing he was safe and secure in the bike.
Three years later, aged 4, he still enjoys using the bike, but without the safety bars/ parent steering and foot rest (although he now has to share the bike with his younger brother).
One downside is that as you are steering the bike using the push handle at the back, the front handles also move. This made it a little hard to steer because sometimes my son would wiggle the handle bar at the front, which would twist my handle bar (so it wasn't smooth steering all the time).
Overall i feel this is a worthwhile purchase! It is a solid versatile bike (made of hard plastic) that will last for many years. Appropriate for children aged from the age of 10 months - 5yrs. Read the complete review |
