Zoggs Seal Flips
by jillycat We have been using these Seal flips with our son for about a year now so I thought it was time I wrote about how good they are and how much fun they bring him when we go swimming. Just a quick note these are in the outdoor toy section and whilst we have used them in an outdoor swimming pool we generally unless it is a sunny day use them ... in an indoor pool. What are they? *************** These are five little cute plastic seals they really look a lot like a child's drawing of a flying saucer but with seal whiskers, nose and goggles on the top and bottom of them. The two sides of the seal are different colours e.g. blue seal on one side and a yellow one on the other. The seals are designed for them to float on the top off the water in the pool and then for you to dunk your face down into the water and blow on them to turn them over. They are intended to help your child gain water confidence especially with lowering their face into the water In use ******** My son had tried swimming lessons at our local pool when he was about 20 months old but he found the lessons a bit overwhelming and didn't seem to enjoy them. However he loved been taken to the pool so we decided we would try to do some teaching ourselves and wait for a more formal swimming lesson when he was a bit older. When we were looking at things to help him gain confidence in the water these seals kept coming up in the searches so cashing in some dooyoo miles for Amazon vouchers I bought some. The first time we took them to the pool our son just watch my husband and I blow the seals over. He on this occasion was more interested in collecting them up when they had been thrown in the toddler pool. However we kept taking them for a few weeks every time we went swimming and gradually he gained the confidence to try to blow them over himself. It would take generally 3 or 4 attempts with blowing to get them to turn as he wouldn't lower his face in to the water far enough so would be blowing down wards on the seals which doesn't make them turn. As he gradually got the knack of blowing at the side of the seals thin edge it would take him less and less turns to get them over. Now after using them for over a year he has it down to a fine art and can blow these over without any problems at. The seals seem to have done their job very well in regards to getting him confident about lowering his face into the water as he now has no problems jumping in from the side of the pool with his arm bands on. However more importantly for learning to swimming he has learnt that it is OK and nothing bad will happen if he puts his face down into the water and kick his legs when he wants to move. He hasn't as yet learnt the art of taking a breath in and then blowing out by just lifting his head and taking another breath whilst remaining flat and still kicking. What he does at the moment is to hold his breath lowers his face into the water goes flat and kicks his legs to then return to an upright position when he is out of breath before repeating the same process. I am sure with time he will move on to the next stage but I am happy the seals have helped him get as far as he has now. He still plays with the seals when we go swimming doing some blowing over of them but they are now used for us to throw around the pool for him to try to swim to collect them and bring back to mummy or daddy. Often at times he will use a float to rest these on and taken them for a swim which I have to say looks very cute. We have had these for over a year and I would say they are used on average once a week by us and they are still a bright and cheerful colour there has been some wear and tear to the whiskers and goggles with bits of the darker colouring wearing off but I am pleased with how well they hold up. Overall ******** I would definitely recommend these to parents with young children who are learning to swim. We have found these cute little seals have definitely helped our son learn some water confidence with lowering his face into the water. He is now gradually learning with them to blow in and out with his face half in the water whilst kicking with his legs. They are very robust and seem to be lasting well. They are fun to use for young children with their bright and colourful design and can be used to play various games in the pool to aid water confidence. At around £5-6 depending on the sports stockist they are good value and worth every penny I think Read the complete review |

Zoggs Seal Flips
by cuturechic Both my girls have been taking swimming lessons at our local pool for a year now. My girls are only three years old so in the lesson the get to swim with floats, sing songs, lay on there backs like star fish, they also have to go under water. None of the children like being ducked under the water so the children are weary off having to ... put there own heads into the water. The swimming instructor recently introduced zogg seal flips to the class as too encourage the children to blow bubbles in the water and blow to flip the seals over whilst their mouths are close the the surface of the water. As i found the seal flips working for the girls i decided to buy some of our own to play with in the bath and gives them practise for there lessons too. Zogg seal flips come in a pack of five for £5.00 and i bought ours from the pool however these are available online from other retailers. Zogg seal flips are lightweight and float in the water. These are made from tough plastic and brightly coloured. Seal flips are round in shape and around 2 inches long, wide. One side of the seal flip has the seal head shape and the other just a round half a ball shape. The seal head is decorated with swim goggles on , nose , whiskers etc. The idea is to put the seal flip in front of the child and get them to try blow the seal over, it only works when the mouth is close the the water surface. Its really good and easy for a child to blow the seal over and it flips over to the plan side so blow again to bring the seals head back again. Another good game is to throw the seal flip across the pool not to far but as far as the child can swim and get the child to swim and fetch it back. Zogg seal flips are for children three months + I think zogg seal flips are a great idea , these have really helped my girls gain more confidence in the water whilst making it a fun game for them too. All the class enjoy the seal flips. I highly recommend seal flips for any child learning to swim but they also make a fun bath toy even for young babies due to the bright colours. Zoggs Seal Flips
by tashmart When my daughter started swimming lessons she was very wary about putting her face in the water despite having goggles on. Her swim teacher recommended these seal flip overs which were sold at the local pool and cost £ 4.99. They come in packs of 5 and are brightly coloured water toys which are made of lightweight plastic and ... float on the water. They are a ball shape and they have the image of a male seal on one side and a lady seal on the other. The aim is to flip them over in the water by blowing on them. These are great for getting a child to get confident with putting their face in the water. Once my daughter realised that all she had to do was blow on it she was quite keen to try and flip it over. The child has to get quite close to the water to make the seals flip, their chin has to be in the water and this is a great start to getting the rest of their face emerged. The seal flips are also good for helping the child to practice their breathing techniques. They soon learn when to breathe and when to keep their mouth closed! My daughter is older now and is a good and confident swimmer but she still uses these toys to play with in the water. She chases them around the pool and swims to get them. We have certainly had our moneys worth! These seal flips are for 3 months and older which is a great age range. Younger children can use them to splash and play with and they help the children gain confidence in water from an early age. I would reecommend them to anyone. Read the complete review |
