Advantages: travels a great distance

Disadvantages: n/a

When I was younger as a family we used to go Camping a lot and had great wide open spaces to play in, we were shopping one day whilst camping and my dad came across the Aerobie 13 Pro Ring, it was so long ago, but I think it cost around £14 at the time. They came in different colours, orange, pink and yellow, we opted for the orange one.

The Aerobie 13 Pro Ring is a Frisbee equalivant it is a circular shape but has a hollow centre section like a ring. It is 33cm across and has a width of only 0.6cm and the reason it has such great flight is that it only weights 150 grams. It comes in the colour of your choice and then has a black ring in the centre of the ring.

The Pro Ring is designed with a flexible rim made of soft rubber to give you a straight and accurate flight path, whilst also being soft enough to catch comfortably in your hands.

On the packet when we purchased it, it also stated that it had won a Guinness World Record for being the farthest distance an object had been thrown at over 400 meters.

I found with a lot of other Frisbees that you have to be fairly close to whoever you were playing with as they did not normally do a great distance or even have a great aim, but the Aerobie Pro Ring is great and in a league of its own travelling a longer distance and with fantastic precision.

It takes some getting used to when you first start off using it to make sure that you get the right positions but once you have it is great fun. It really does put to shame the old standard plastic Frisbees as a waste of plastic and money.

When using the Aerobie do not throw it too hard otherwise it will travel a very long distance and you will spend more time chasing after it. It requires minimal force to throw and due to its circular hollow shape it is easy for your opponent to catch.

I recommend when using it for the first time you make sure that you use it in a wide open space for practice, if you are in a small back garden you may lose it and then have to go to the neighbours down the road to retrieve it.

We had used the Aerobie every summer for at least five years and it still worked perfectly and looked as good as new. Unfortunately this had been misplaced and a few years ago I purchased a new one off the Aerobie site for when we were away at the beach and it is still the same great product. In looking on the Aerobie site they cost under £10 which I think is a worthy investment for any family that like playing outdoor activities and have the space available to play.

Summary: great fun
