Argos Sand & Water Table
Advantages: Good compact size but still big enough to play in.
Disadvantages: If you use sand and water it will be a big mess.
This is a pretty good table despite what I said earlier about sticky messes. It is shaped like a square which is cut out on the top to provide a bowl effect. It is then split diagonally to provide two triangle shaped insets.
The idea in the Argos catolouge is to have sand in one side and water in the other but this for me was a huge no no after the first two times of using it. My kids just mixed the two up to the extent that nothing could be salvaged and we had to tip out and start again.
The rest of the table is really good and solid. The four legs which support it are thick and strong. My kids climb into the actual table and although they may lose their balance, the table has never rocked or gone to tip over.
It also comes with a plastic cover which is elasticated all the way round so it grips the edges of the table nicely and performs a nice snug fit. This keeps all the creepy crawlies out of it if you are leaving it out at night. This however can be a bit of a pig to get on sometimes though.
It also comes with a few plastic toys for the kids to play with, like some beakers with holes in the bottom. A little rake, spade and some sand shapers. These are pretty good for the little ones to use and fit inside the bowl bits of the table when not in use.
At the bottom of each section of the table there is a round plug which you pull out, allowing any water to be drained away. The only thing I found with this, is that if you have used sand, the plug hole is fairly large and quite a bit of the sand will go through too.
We brought this from Argos- obviously - for twenty pounds but looking in the catolouge today they no longer do this one, although there is one very similar but it is round with three sections in it.
The table we got would suit from about age 1 and a half up to as old as you like.
Although the sand and water combination was a complete mess to clean up if you don't mind that sort of thing the kids love the mix. Argos also sell the kids play sand which is lovely and soft for the kids to play with and it is roughly 2.50 per bag. One bag would fit one side of the table perfectly.
Hope you enjoyed the read.
Summary: Excellent good value garden fun.
