“ Brand: Asda / Type: Sand toys „
My boyfriend has his daughter every Sunday and we usually end up doing something with the four of us, days out to attractions are usually out of the question as I didn't realise how much things add up with four of us instead of just two, me and my daughter like it was before. Instead, days out to parks and beaches is what we usually opt to do. Of course, being so close to the beach, we spend a lot of time there and over time, have acquired quite a collection of beach related toys. Asda's 2 for £10 promotion featured a few different beach toys so we purchased a couple to keep the girls entertained.
This sand basket would have cost £7 if we purchased it on its own but as we purchased another qualifying too it worked out to just £5. It's only available to buy from Asda stores or online from their website.
The sand basket comes packaged inside a mesh netting bag, after ripping into the netting you have to cut a fairly thick plastic tie to get into the basket of sand toys, it definitely needs to be opened before going to the beach (we found this out the hard way!). The whole idea of the toys being placed inside of a basket is fantastic as you have something to carry everything in to and from the beach without having to worry about another bag for all of the toys. The basket is well designed too, the holes are ideal as it means some of the excess sand can fall out without having it all bunged up in the bottom of the basket so it all tends to be left at the beach without sand being dropped all over the car. The basket also has carry handles so it is comfortable to carry alongside the millions of other bags we usually have at the same time.
Inside the basket is a nice selection of different toys to use at the beach. The biggest item inside was a boat, it takes up around a third of the room in the basket and is the least played with toy out of what is included. It doesn't really do a lot and my daughter only really played with it for seconds at the water's edge, my boyfriend's daughter wasn't interested in it in the slightest. The traditional bucket and spade are also included, though these are smaller than the buckets and spades you can buy on their own. One good thing about the bucket is that it is made from a nice thick plastic and the handle is secured nicely onto the bucket unlike a lot of the other buckets we have got. The other contents include a couple of sand moulds and a sand sieve too. Again, these pieces are all well made from a durable plastic.
I don't think I would have paid the full £7 for the set. Although it includes a nice selection of toys, the boat is a bit of a let down and you could buy the other pieces separately for a cheaper price. However the fact that it comes inside a basket is fantastic and means that transportation of the toys is easy and for this reason I would recommend this set. None of the pieces have broken and it's still in an as new condition despite being played with a lot.
