Advantages: Great design with sunshade
My daughter absolutely loves water. She has been having swimming lessons since she was 5 months old and now at 9 months is quite confident in the water and loves to splash and play. When we recently went to the birthday party of a friends little girl, they had laid out lots of toys and paddling pools for the little ones to play in/with.
They had two of the Chad Valley Sunshine Baby Pools set up, and as you can imagine my water baby wanted to go straight into the paddling pool and stayed there for the entire duration of the party! When we got home I could not resist buying one for Tilly-Mae too. We brought ours from Amazon for £27.99.
This paddling pool is so well thought out and cleverly designed to be both eye catching and very practical.
I love that it has a shade to keep the sun off baby, whilst they play. This is designed to look like a rainbow in bright colours and the pool itself is bright blue. It really is a lovely designed and is very well made and durable.
As well as being used as a paddling pool you can also fill it with sand although we have not tried that yet, I am not sure my little mermaid would be very impressed! Although this is a very useful feature that I am sure would appeal to lots of little ones.
Interestingly though whilst this is described as a baby paddling pool the suggestion age range on Amazon is 2 and over with a maximum weight of 25kg. My little girl is 9 months old and absolutely loves to play in hers and is always very closely supervised at all times. She only has a small amount of water (although this is more about mummy not getting TOO wet!). It does not take long for me to fill it for her maybe a couple of minutes, but we only put a few inches in. If you wanted to fill it I imagine you could do some in 5 or 6 minutes it certainly would not take long.
The suggested age of 2 and over for this pool surprises me due to its size. It is 86cm by 118cm and is the perfect size for my 9 month old little girl to play in by herself. She has enough room to move about a bit but not tons of space and an older child would have much less and I really do feel the size is much more suitable for a younger age range obviously with very close supervision.
This size also means that only one baby (even at my daughters young age) can play at any one time. There really would not be room for a second child to play comfortable and if you have more than one child I would suggest this may not be the paddling pool for you especially if they want to play together.
For us the size is a real advantage as it is small enough that we can set it up pretty much anywhere and we tend to dry it and store it inflated in our spare room when not in use. Especially as during the current hot spell it has been incredible well used. That said it is very easy to inflate and does not take very long.
I highly recommend this padding pool for babies it is a lovely design and very well made. However I would suggest if you have more than one child this may not be for you as only one could comfortably get in at a time.
