My youngest daughter was bought a set of these quad skates for her 3rd birthday, I have seen these skates for sale in our local Home Bargains store for £6.99 which I would say is a really good price for them.
The skates came packaged in a strong cardboard box which was brightly coloured and showed pictures of the skates enclosed. It stated on the box that these are only suitable for ages 3 plus and I would say that is pushing it a little unless it is just my 3 year old that is too uncoordinated to use them.
The skates are brightly coloured and made of hard plastic, they are coloured pink, lilac and green and have pictures of Minnie Mouse on the front of them. The skates have 4 wheels hence the name quad skates and they have stoppers at the front to help your child come to a stop when they are skating but this requires more coordination so again Emily cannot manage them.
The skates are adjustable and they are suitable for shoe sizes 5-11, my daughter is a size 7 so we thought they would fit easily. When we fitted these to our daughter for the first time she was wearing quite bulky trainers and we actually found it was hard to fit them in the skates so we changed her into some more slender trainers and that was fine.
To fit the trainers there is a little twist mechanism so you can fit the skate to your childs feet with shoes on of course and then twist to secure, there is a strap around the ankle and this just pulls into place and secures as it pulls through a slot in the plastic so that they don't loosen until you release them.
Emily was chuffed when she saw these and once we had the right shoes on her they fit well. She really struggles staying upright on the skates and I feel her balance is not developed enough to use skates yet. We have let her try them herself in the house to prevent injury and this does result in a lot of falling over. We have had these outside also but we pull her along on them and she finds it hilarious.
These are great quality and we have found even after being bashed about a bit there is no damage. They look nice and once fitted properly they are lovely and secure which of course is important. I rate these 4 stars as I don't really feel they are suitable for a 3 year old but feel she will get more use out of them as she grows and develops a better balance.
