      ELC Ball pit

We often go to an inside soft play centre where they have slides and soft toys and big ball pits. The ball pit is one of my little girls favourite parts of the soft play centre and so we bought her her very own ball pit. Although its not as cool as the massive ones in the soft play centre (as unless you have a massive house and lots of room it could never be as big) its still really good fun and big enough to play in and play in easily.

The ball pit is square and measures L100 x W100 x H35cm. You can easily fit three small children in it with them all sitting down and playing as my little girl often plays with her friends in it and you can also fit one adult and one small child in it as I often end up having to get in there and play with my little girl too on her insistence!! The ball pit is made of a tent material so is very airy and flexible and bends when you are sitting in it if you push out the sides. The pit is easy to put up and down. The Early Learning Centre say its a pop up pit and it does stay up but you do need to sort of assemble it a little bit in order for it to stay up so there is a bit of work involved. In order to set up the ball pit there are four plastic corner tubes which slide into slots on each corner. The corners are then held in place by material pockets that go over the plastic so its quite easy to put up and down and you can flatten it if you need to store it and put it away.

The pit is square and is made up of lots of different bold primary colours, with red and yellow sides and blue piping. Along two of the sides there is a mesh panel which enables your little one to see through and adds a bit of something different to the pit. I think this is nice for my little baby boy. At the moment I put him in the pit and obviously as he is only crawling he is on his tummy so he can see out of the mesh and really likes to look out of the pit when he is in it. The pit has a rim all around the inside which is probably only an inch or two thick but it keeps the ball balls inside well and stops them from all going out of the ball pit if you have a little one rummaging about in the balls. It does not stop balls from being thrown out of the pit though as some over zealous toddlers will do but that it all part of the fun of a ball pit.

The pit does not come with balls but if you're like our house you will have lots of play balls already. We bought a pack of 100 from The Early Learning Centre if I remember rightly and these work well in the ball pit. We also put soft toys, and other things in here making it fun for the kids to discover other toys hidden within the ball. The nice thing is with this ball pit is that you can play inside or outside with it.

At just £18 I think it makes a really fun toy.

        Good indoor and outdoor toy

My son was given this ball pool, along with 2 bags of balls for his first birthday and he really enjoyed playing in it. You can purchase the ball pool for £18 in the Early Learning Centre. It is recommended for ages 2 and upwards and is 100 X 100 X 34 cm, made of a durable polyester type material. You can easily fit 2- 3 small children in the ball pool.

The ball pool is a pop up pool, but it still needs to be assembled, so technically it is not pop up. The material part of the ball pool is all fixed together and does pop up, it is made of a variety of different colours including red, blue, green, yellow and orange, two of the side are made of coloured see through material and the other two sides are made of solid blocks of colour. Around the edge of the ball pool is a slight rim, to contain the balls and this is made of a shiny material. To fully assemble the ball bit you are supplied with four plastic corner tubes that you fix into slots on each corner and these are held in place by little material pockets. They make the ball pool quite sturdy, but I would say that they do not hold up to very boisterous activity and have become dislodged on few occasions when my son dived into the pool.
I would say that the ball pool has a limited life span, as once the novelty wears off, they do become a bit boring and also messy, I was forever finding balls under the curtains or plants out in the garden.

The ball pool is easy to climb in and out of, though on occasion my son had managed to tip the ball pit over and all the balls go bouncing around. I fill the ball pit with 200 balls in total, though it could hold twice that. The base of the bit is very thin so it needs to be placed on a soft surface, say grass or a carpet, not paving slabs, this also allows for a soft landing when your child decides do dive in head first.

Overall I would recommend this ball pool to others as it is well proportioned, fairly sturdy, colourful and fun to play in, plus it can be used both indoors and in the garden.
