Advantages: They are safer and less likely to cause damage.
Disadvantages: dont travel as well when kicked.
In the summer me and my family enjoy going on picnics and tend to take along numerous outdoor toys for the kids (and the adults) to play with especially if it's an all day picnic which we go on a lot. I saw these in early learning centre and they cost me about £5.00 each I think, I know they didn't cost any more than that. Well they are ideal, the leather balls my kids have are very hard and I'm always concerned about them hitting people or windows because they are exceedingly hard and damage things very easily. So on seeing these I jumped at the chance to buy a couple.
My oldest son gets rather carried away when playing football and often forgets that his little brother is playing with him and that he is a great deal smaller, but I don't need to worry about my little one being hit as much with these balls because it is so soft . Although when my youngest first got hit with this he did cry but seemed more startled than hurt but now he laughs and kicks it back which is good. It's also perfect for playing out the front as all the mums had agreed no balls because of the possible damage to cars and windows but this has been approved and we can let the kids play without fear of damage to vehicles or of someone being hurt(there is a wide age range). Everybody is happy! Although the kids do say that because they are light that they don't travel as well when kicked and often the wind does catch them but they are still happy to play with these. Another problem is that I have found a few bite holes in my youngest son's ball where he has bitten out chucks of the foam (odd I know, but still!)
They are basically made of large solid blue foam with black markings imitating a regular football. This is a great way to encourage exercise and perfect to take on picnics to the park or beach. My youngest plays it in the house but has learned he isn't to throw it in the house just to roll it. Although it is lightweight is still possible to knock over ornaments. In the garden this is great but if you have dogs who like balls I would keep it away from them as they would be easily damaged by a dog. They do get mucky quickly especially in the autumn, and they don't clean easily, but it's not a huge problem, also if you need to name them for any reason black marker pen stays on very well, and I can imagine these will last well if kept away from both my dog and youngest sons teeth...loll!
Overall a very robust and durable item perfect for what its designed for, I would definitely purchase another once for next summer to replace our one that looks like Swiss cheese. I would highly recommend these balls.
Summary: A lightweight foam football perfect for picnics.
