Advantages: Varied, well made, neat design
Disadvantages: Pricey
I bought the pink version of this sand and water table for my daughter, but it's the exact same except for the colours, which are pink and lime green.
After looking around for something like this for a while, I decided on the Early Learning Centre version for a few different reasons. First of all, my daughter had tried it at someone elses house and it seemed the perfect height for her.
Also I liked its symmetry and the way it was divided into two equal parts. The other thing I liked was its femininity, despite me trying to avoid everything being pink!
The table was easy to put together and is very sturdy when built. It comes with two funnels and water wheels which can be built in different ways and put in the holes between the two sections.
It also comes with two spades, a starfish to makes sand shapes, and a little boat.
Obviously one side of the table is meant for water, and one for sand, but after only a few weeks use both sides contain a murky sand/water mix due to my daughters tendency to dump the sand into the water and vice versa!
I should state that the recommended age for this toy is 3-6 years, but my daughter is only 14-months. She adores it though and always heads straight to it when out in the garden. She is the right height for the compartments but isn't really able to reach the funnels properly yet.
Sand is not included and costs around £6 a bag in the Early Learning Centre, or less from some supermarkets or garden centres.
The table has a lid which keeps the contents dry, and along the top of it is a track, which is handy for pushing toy cars around on when not in use.
Priced at £45, this table is a little expensive, and there are cheaper options available, but I love ELC stuff and was lucky enough to pick it up for £38, when it was on offer.
Having introduced my daughter to the beach last week, I thought this table would no longer hold the same appeal but she seems to love it as much as ever and I imagine we will get a few years use out of it.
