ELC Bubble Wand
Advantages: Fun, easy to use for older children (me, for example), big bubbles
Up until recently, I never knew Early Learning Centre had a shop on Amazon, this has been a fantastic discovery as the stuff on sale from the shop is eligible for free super saver delivery. This is a double positive for me as I can use my Amazon vouchers on the occasional treat for my daughter and get ELC toys without having to pay for delivery or driving the 40 minutes to our nearest store. One of the purchases I made was this bubble wand.
I hadn't really known about bubble wands until last summer, so I would imagine they are relatively new on the market. They consist of a long tube, the lid of this tube also acts as the handle for the bubble wand. Simple unscrew the lid and pull out the long flexible plastic wand and you are good to go.
The flexible wand means that whatever way in which you fly it around, up, down or side to side, it will move with you and still create bubbles. I live quite high up and it is nearly always wind up here so creating bubbles with the wand is easy. As soon as I pull the wand from the long tube of solution the wind blows some bubbles from the wand. The wind also made it difficult to try and make one big long bubble as the bubbles just came flying out anyway.
I took this bubble wand to my mums house and found it much more enjoyable playing with it without the wind spoiling my fun. Spinning round in circles with the wand made lots of quite large bubbles come flying off, my daughter then joined in with my fun by trying to chase them and jumping up to try and reach them before they blew away. We both had heaps of fun!
I did try and get my daughter to use the wand herself, but at only 2 and a half years old, she found it quite difficult and got quite stressed because she couldn't do it herself. She can hold the handle well as it has a curved shape to it, but when it comes to waving the wand around she just sharply moved it from side to side and no bubbles were able to form. It didn't really bother her though, she would much rather rub around trying to pop the bubbles I made, that meant I still got to play with it, we were both happy.
This bubble wand is available from Early Learning Centre, Mothercare or Amazon. The price varies, its only £2 on Amazon but other places sell it for £3. Bubble wands are widely available during summer months from lots of different places for lots of different prices.
I'd definitely recommend this bubble wand from ELC, the curved handle means it's easy to grip for younger children, if they can manage to work out how to do it. If they can't it's great fun for adults to make the bubbles for children to pop them, just make sure you buy it from Amazon, a quid cheaper and free delivery!
