ELC Bubble Wand
Advantages: Lots of fun
Disadvantages: At full RRP, the wands are cheapers elsewhere
I'm always looking for bargains online and like to stock up when I spot bargains, even if that means what I buy sits in the cupboard for 6 months. This is one product that we have hours of fun with so when the summer season draws to an end, I always keep an eye out for when they get reduced. I spotted these reduced online at Mothercare and decided to buy a few for this year.
These are pretty similar to all the others on the market, the bubble mixture comes in a long coloured plastic tube, which is see-through enabling me to see how much bubble fluid I have left. The tube is topped with a screw top plastic lid which is the same colour as the tube by not see through. Altogether, the wand measures around 4cm but is quite slim so it doesn't take up much storage space.
Although I brought mine from Mothercare, from the ELC section and at the time, it was available online and in store (although most of my local stores have started to close down). ELC also sell on Amazon now and normally with free delivery so I would recommend checking there first, especially if you aren't spending up to the free delivery threshold. The price varies from £2 - £3 but towards the end of the season, can go down to as little as 50p.
Using the wand is really easy, un-screw the top, the wand (the bit which makes the bubbles) is attached to the lid so I haven't got to stick my hand in and get fluid all over them.
There is no blowing involved, simply wave the wand about and out come the bubbles, I have found also that if there is a slight bit of wind, then you can just hold the wand in the air and the wind will make bubbles on its own.
Both myself and Lauren love these, we normally take these on to the beach with us so that there is lots of open space, Lauren will constantly chase these and try to burst them. It is actually quite funny to watch and also tires her out which is always a bonus.
The consistency of the mixture is just right, making perfect bubbles every time! The wand produces bubble whcich are quite strong (i.e. dont burst as soon as they are made) and are really big too. The mixture also lasts quite a long time and I find that a wand will normally last about 1 week, even if we use it every day.
The tube is recyclable and you can also re-fill them yourself with washing up liquid and water. I have done this a couple of times but to be honest but I have found this is a bit hit and miss and I never seem to get the consistency right so because they are only a couple of pound each, I tend to just buy new.
Overall, I would recommend these bubble wands but because they are a little cheaper elsewhere, I would only give 4 out of 5 stars.
