As Jayden's birthday is in April we decided that as part of his present we would buy him a paddling pool for the summer, I wanted something that would last him a little while, but something that would be ideal for him now. After looking around we decided to buy him the ELC Double Fun Activity Pool, this pool was just what we were looking for, something he could play with now and also something that would last him several years.
The ELC Double Fun Activity Pool comes compact and folded up in a square box, this has a picture of the pool on both sides of the box with the name of the product and the ELC logo on it. There is also various bits of product information on the sides of the box. The packaging is brightly coloured and shows you exactly what you get inside the box, there is also an instruction leaflet in the box inside which tells you how to set the pool up. Inside the box there is not additional packaging around the deflated pool, however it is so tightly compact inside the box that there is no room for it to move around and become damaged.
The ELC Double Fun Activity Pool is basically an inflatable paddling pool, it consists of 2 connected round pools with an inflatable bridge going between the 2, this is also detachable, the whole thing is made from a tough rubbery plastic type material that you would expect paddling pools to be made from.
The edges of the pool are a green colour, with a bright blue base and the detachable bridge is bright yellow and orange. One side of the pool has a bright red and yellow shelter which creates a shaded area for your child to sit, parts of this are also inflatable so that the shelter is positioned over the pool keep the sun off of it.
The other part of the pool has a small inflatable palm tree on the edge of it, this attaches to the garden hose and when turned on turns into a sprinkler.
When we removed the pool from the box I was quite surprised at the size of it, it was much larger than I expected, the pool measures 264cm (L) x 137cm (W) x 68cm (H), although the pool was bigger than I expected I was pleased with the size as it means it will last him much longer, although it does make storing it a bit difficult.
The pool is recommended for children over 36 months, Jayden is just over a year old but I feel he is old enough for this pool, he is never left unattended in the pool and it is nice for him to have somewhere cool to sit and play on a hot day, he loves the water so I see no reason why he shouldn't have a paddling pool to play in providing he has someone with him the whole time.
Inflating the Pool
When it came to inflating the pool there was nothing complicated about it, there are various valves positioned around the pool which allow you to inflate the various sections, these valves are made from clear plastic, to inflate the sections you simply blow or pump air into the valves and the secure the lid to the valve in place and then push it inside the pool. To be honest I would recommend inflating the pool with a pump of some sort, however we didn't have one at the time and had to inflate it by blowing into it, it did take me and my Husband quite a while to do taking it in turns but we got there in the end and the finished result was the same. Once inflated the pool is ready to fill with water, there are small lines on the inside of the 2 pool sections recommending the maximum amount of water you put in.
Price and Availability
The Double Fun Activity Pool is available from the Early Learning Centre which is where we bought ours from and it cost £35.00, although it is now on offer for £17.50, we paid full price for ours but I was pleased with this price as hopefully Jayden will get a lot of use out of his pool and it will last a while making it worth the money.
Despite the weather we have had recently Jayden has managed to get out in his pool on the hot days that we have had and seems extremely pleased with it, as are we. The ELC Double Fun Activity Pool is a good size making it ideal for if you have more than 1 child or if your child has friends around.
The pool is made from a tough, strong material which will hopefully last well and be tough and durable, I personally like the fact that there are 2 parts to this pool, sometimes we fill both sections with water and other times we fill 1 section with water and the other section with ball pit balls so he has different stuff in each section to play with.
The sides of the pool are just the right height meaning that Jayden can easily get in and out of the pool on his own. The shaded section is ideal for hot sunny days as it means he can play in the shade without the sun being on him, at the moment he will not keep a hat on so having the shaded part of the pool is ideal.
The sprinkler is also a nice idea as it makes the pool a bit different to regular pools and is good to keep your child cool on a hot day.
The pool is very reasonably priced even when it is full price as this will last him for several years, the pool is ideal for slightly older children as well as children of Jayden's age.
The only down side for us was inflating the pool but this would have been made much easier if we had of had a pump to do it with.
Overall I would highly recommend the ELC Double Fun Activity Pool, it is ideal for both boys and girls and makes a lovely garden toy for warm summer days, I have been extremely pleased with this pool and would recommend it to anyone looking to buy their child a paddling pool.
Fun double play pool for all the family. Fill the smaller shaded pool with play balls for the younger children, the older children can play in the paddling pool with their friends. With a cool inflatable water slide separating both sides of the pool for extra fun.Warning: Not suitable for children under 36 months.
