ELC Egg & Spoon Race
Advantages: Strong plastic, Can be wiped clean, Great fun, Great form of exercise
I purchased the Egg & Spoon race set from eBay; how-ever you can purchase it from the Early Learning Centre for £6.00. The set includes 4 spoons and 4 eggs. Each of the spoons is different colour which includes red, blue, yellow & green. All the spoons have matching eggs to go with them. The spoons are made of very strong plastic and won't break if they are dropped, or stepped on. In fact they are so strong I don't think anything would actually break them. The eggs are also made of plastic which is slightly shiny and each egg has what looks like a crack down the centre. This splits the eggs in half to reveal a foam shape which is an egg shape and is white in colour with a yellow yolk, so it looks like a real egg.
I purchased these for a party that my nephew was having as I thought they would be great for the kids. We unfortunately never got round to using them at the party but we have used them in the garden, along with my sister, her boyfriend and me racing against my nephew. As the spoons are quite big and also chunky they are really easy to hold even for little hands. My nephew loved the fact that he could choose his favourite coloured spoon and egg to go with it. We walked as fast as we could to the bottom of the garden, my sister's boyfriend pretending to trip on the way there, so his end fell off and broke into two pieces revealing the egg inside. My nephew though this was really funny.
The eggs stay on the spoons quite easily, so we did pretend that the eggs fell off in order for my nephew to win the race. He loved the fact that when the eggs fall onto the floor a foamy egg breaks out of the shell onto the floor. We had to play this race many times before he got bored. The foam eggs are easy to get back into the plastic egg, simply by pushing one half in the shell and them pushing the other half of the shell on.
As the spoons and eggs are made from plastic they can be wiped clean with a little washing up liquid and this soon gets rid of any dirty marks such as mud or mucky fingers. The foam eggs can also be wiped clean; how-ever these don't come up as clean as the eggs and the spoons.
For £6.00 I don't think this is bad value as the eggs and the spoons are made of very strong plastic and can be kept clean and are long lasting. My nephew loves racing with these and has even asked to use them when his friends come round. This is a great game to play in the garden and with any luck; he can use it even more in the garden when we get some sun. I give this product 5 out of 5 stars and think it's a great, fun game.
