Advantages: great for younger children and competitive adults
Disadvantages: expensive
Whilst shopping around in the Early Learning Centre looking around for toys for my nephew I came across so many things that I liked and were a little on the old side for my nephew. But I thought that they would be used over the coming summer months in the garden, especially as friends children come round and play I need a few things stored away for them to play with and then as my nephew grows he also has something to play with.
I purchased the foam bowling game as I purchase two other items so got this free as there is a special offer on at the moment. Although they normally retail around £18, which if I did not get these on three for the price of two I am not sure if I would have considered purchasing then at this price.
This bowling game comes with two foam balls which have three holes in like proper bowling balls so that you can throw the ball with ease. Although you tend to find that the younger children do not use these, they find it more comfortable to just roll the ball to knock over the pins.
There are six foam bowling pins, two are red, two blue and two are green. The foam that they are made of is very robust foam making this game durable and able to withstand any environment inside or out. The base of the pins have a plastic bottom so that you can stand them up with ease and not have to worry about using a perfectly flat surface area.
This game is not recommended for children under 36 months to play with it, my nephew just like to play with the foam ball, but I always make sure he is supervised when playing with it as I worry that he will bite the foam, which is not good especially as the ball has been rolling around the garden.
Some of my cousins came over the other day and fortunately the weather stayed dry long enough for us to go out on to the patio and play with the game. The pins are a perfect weight so that they stand up in the wind and the balls are lighter foam than the pins so you need to make sure that they are thrown with enough force.
This game really helps to improve your childs coordination as they have to aim and throw the ball, while also enabling them to have fun. There are many different games that you can play you can either score the game and play it properly or with teams or you could even just mess about knocking down the pins.
Although this are made of foam I wound not recommend that you use them inside the house. Unless you have a room that is empty to avoid any breakages as things can still be knocked over even though they are made of foam.
I would have to give this four stars out of five, due to the heavy price tag that this bowling game has.
