ELC Foam Bowling Game
Advantages: Nice colours and easy to play with
Disadvantages: Can double as clubs in the wrong hand
This was another birthday present that my daughter received and it was one of about five presents she got that strictly speaking she is too young to play with as it is recommended for children of 3+ and she is only two however she is able to play with this so I'm not sure why the age limit is set at age 3 and above other than for the fact that it is a foam set and the makers are worried about younger children trying to eat the foam. Checking the webiste the set is priced at £18 and it is something that she will be able to play with on a regular basis, at the moment she has to be pretty close to the skittles to get them down and does have a bit of trouble getting all six to stand at one time but she is getting there with practice however she does get a little frustrated at times.
In teh set you get two yellow foam balls and six skittles of assorted colours, the balls have finger holes in them to make them look like the real things however my daughter does not always use these as she seems to have perfected the two handed lob technique. The whole set is pretty duravble and well made, there is a plastic base for each of the pins which does make standing them up a lot easier as they are ok to use on a hard surface or the lawn.
They do help to teach hand eye co-ordination and also to add up the numbers as the pins are knocked down, not something my little one is concerned about at the moment but it is something you can add in with older children.
Overall they are a neat toy and my little one does like to play with them, one thing to look out for with older children is the fact that the pins can double as clubs, one of my best friends has a rather stroppy 4 year old who took a swing at his 6 year old sister mid game, luckily he missed and was then caught before he could do any damage with the plastic base they would have hurt with a full swing.
They are well made, I have let my little one use them in the conservatory because there is nothing to damage in there and she has a weak throw however they are for outside use.
Summary: Great outdoors toy
