We have an Early LEarning Centre Bubble machine, a fantastic toy that really entertains the kids and one I definitely recommend, especially with summer coming up as its a perfect garden toy. From time to time we need to replace the bubble mixture and when we do I use the bubble mix from The Early Learning Centre. I know you can make your own with washing up liquid and water but I have never really managed to get the mixture quite right and it never works properly and I feel with a machine I like to use a proper mixture that will not cause damage to the machine as it is especially designed for it.
The Early Learning Centre bubble mix comes in a variety of different sizes but I tend to purchase the giant bottle as this is a better economy and lasts longer. The mixture definitely lasts longer when you use it in the machine rather than using it in little bottles as they come out quite well and do not drip a lot of the bubble mixture like doing it with the bottle does. The bubble mix comes in a 1045ml bottle and it will last/produce approximately 1 hour of bubbles, or so it says on the back of the bottle. If you think this is quite a long time to have bubbles and when we use our bubble machine we really only have it on for 10 minutes or so at a time so to be able to use this bottle approximately 6 times I think is very good value.
The bottle is quite cute looking but really not a big point because we just have the bottle in the garage, ready to fill up the machine when we need to. The bottle is made to look a bit like bubbles I think as it has about 4 bobbles in it. At the top there is a screw cap as you need to be careful with this mixture around small children. Like I've said above we just keep the bottle in the garage so away from where the kids play anyway. Its easy to fill up the bubble machine with this bottle as the small opening at the top makes it quite easy to pour from and I generally never suffer from any spillage.
One warning I would give you it to watch the surface that your bubbles fall onto as the mixture can be quite slippy. We once used it on a polished wooden floor and because of the soap suds mixture that fell on the floor once the bubbles landed and popped the floor became extremely slippery and the kids were sliding about and falling when they went up to the machines to watch the bubbles so we had to turn it off for their safety much to their disappointment.
A giant bottle of bubble mix costs £5 from The Early Learning Centre.
WHAT IS IT?
An extra large 1050ml bottle of bubble made especially for use with the ELC or other brand bubble machine.
A colourful shaped bottle with twist off lid, there is no bubble wand in the bottle and the neck is narrow to allow for easy pouring into the bubble machine.
IS IT ANY GOOD?
It's normal bubble mixture in a larger bottle and that's the only difference, it's useful to buy this size as it saves having to buy several of the smaller bottles for your machine or making your own washing up liquid solution up which never works. When I bought this my youngest daughter thought it meant it would make giant bubbles but this isn't the case, it just means its a giant bottle.
It's effective in the bubble machine and produces hundreds of bubbles, it doesn't go soapy with the constant rotation of the wand wheel and will blow as many bubbles as the solution or batteries will last for. The bubbles are strong but leave marks on wooden surfaces so it's only for use outside. It smells more like the original green Fairy liquid than other bubbles I've brought for my daughters recently, the area around the bubble machine smells lovely and soapy while it's in use.
We've used the empty bottles as skittles by half filling them with sand, they are just tall enough for my young daughters to play with. Buying the bubble mixture in this format costs £5 each time so I like to reuse the bottles for a game of skittles because it makes it feel like I've had more for my money.
