ELC Large Family Pool
Advantages: Durable, has puncture kit, great price, great fun
Last year when we got the really hot wether in April we decided to get out the paddling pool for the children however when we got it out of the shed we found that it had a hole in it and we didn't have a puncture repair kit. I had a look on the internet and found that we could actually get a decent sized pool for £30 from Early Learning Centre so we decided that it would be worth buying a new one especially as it was only a small one that we had anyway.
The pool is pretty big and is blue and white in colour, it came in a box however it was a tight squeeze so there was no way it was going back into the box once we had used it. Inside the box was the paddling pool and a puncture repair kit which we have probably lost by now! It stated on the box that this pool is suitable for ages 3 and up but I can't understand why and we would never leave either of our children unattended in a pool anyway so we were quite happy to put our youngest in the pool who was only 7 months at the time.
The pool doesn't come with a pump but we already had one so that wasn't a problem to us, the pump easily connected to the value and the pool inflated quickly being fully inflated within a couple of minutes however filling it with water was certainly nowhere near as fast and it took about 10 minutes to get enough water into it. The pool is like two inflatable rings placed one on top of the other, it is mainly blue in colour with white around the top of it and it is rectangular in shape with curved corners.
My eldest daughter loves this pool and she happily played in it for ages kitted out with a hat and suncream of course however our younger daughter hated it which was a surprise as she loves the bath and we had made sure the water wan't freezing for her. We were able to sit comfortably at the edge and put our feet in too and my husband did actually sit on the side of it at one point whilst he was splashing water at our daughter and the pool stayed inflated and didn't damage in any way.
The pool is about 3 metres x 2 metres so it is a good size and means that we can all have a splash about in it as there is plenty of space although the edges are pretty thick and probably about 30cms all the way around.
The pool has a plug at the bottom for making it easier to let the water out, we had though that we would pull the pool to the side of the lawn before letting the water out however the weight of it with water in was simply too heavy and so we had to let the water go in the middle of the garden and ended up with very wet grass.
I can't wait to get the pool out this year, we have stored it in strong bin bags in the shed and made sure it is wrapped well so it doesn't damage, the plastic it is made from seems really strong and I can see this pool lasting for years which is great for £30 I just hope my youngest will play in it this year.
