      ~Fireman Sam Patio Chair~

This patio chair is suitable for children over the age of three and under 30kg in weight. It measures 49.5 x 6.5 x 42.0 cm and weighs 1.57kg. This patio chair has a powder-coated, steel frame with plastic armrests and the colourful red seat features Fireman Sam and 'Sam to the rescue' printed on it. The chair should be used under adult supervision.

      ~Where To Buy~

At the moment, this patio chair can be bought from ebay for around £15.00. If you are lucky, you may be able to pick up one in bigger Tesco stores for £4.00 as our store still has quite a number of them in stock. I think it may be a seasonal product released around Spring each year. Also try Amazon.

      ~Our Thoughts~

Whilst looking for small extras for my sons 5th birthday, I came across this Fireman Sam patio chair in Tesco. I thought £4.00 (half price at the time) was a fair price to play. Whilst we don't have a garden, we go a lot of picnics, long walks and to visit people who do have gardens. The idea behind this purchase is that we could take it out with us to allow our son to have a seat and drink when he got tired on one of our walks. A rested and hydrated Boo makes for a much better walking companion!

Anyway, the chair is fairly lightweight and easily carried when folded by both fiance and I. It folds almost flat for easy transportation and takes up very little storage space. The tubular steel frame appears to be durable and sturdy. It is smooth to the touch and there are little grips on each corner of the frame to stop the chair from slipping around. The chair sits perfectly well on grass, pavements and also carpets. This chair is easily folded out but an adult must ensure that the clip at the back is secure to stop the chair folding on itself. It is equally as fiddly to fold back up as the clip sticks a little and this may cause little fingers to be hurt so this task is best performed by an adult.

The visual design of the chair isn't the best. The frame looks basic yet functional. The canvas seat is secured well on to the frame but is quite thin at the back. It is a colourful design and will definitely catch they eye of a Fireman Sam fan. Sam is seen abseiling to an emergency fire and looks exactly as he does in the programme. There are two yellow armrests on the chair which are made of smooth, flat plastic. I do feel that these would benefit from some form of padding for extra comfort but my son hasn't complained regarding this. This is my view point as a parent.

My son is quite tall for his age and weighs just over 3 stone. The 30kg weight allowance equates to around 4 stone 10lb (approx) so my son is well under the weight limit. My son finds this chair comfortable to sit on for short periods of time. It isn't a luxurious, padded chair but does provide a decent amount of support and comfort for him to chill out and enjoy a drink of juice before playing or going further on a long walk. There is a small amount of space left when my son is sitting on this chair but I can't see it being 'comfortably spacious' for too much longer so I would say the average 3-5 year old would get benefit from this but any older (depending on size of the child) may not get much use from this chair. My son has never complained about this chair causing discomfort to him.

This patio chair is easy to maintain. I personally wouldn't leave it out in the garden but given that it folds so flat, it can easily be popped in the shed or cupboard until required again. Our chair is kept in the house and is often used if we have extra kids over. The little kids enjoy sitting on Fireman Sams seat as they think it looks super cool. When we have taken this out (which is quite regularly over the Summer), any grass marks or dirt have easily been removed with a damp cloth. In general, our chair looks as good as the day we bought it.

      ~Final Thoughts~

These patio chairs seem popular with young children. Ours will be used at home until our son is too big for it and then passed on to another child as we won't get the use out of it next Summer. This patio chair is ideal for young children to have as their own little seat out in the garden. My son loves taking it to my parents home and much prefers it to my Mums larger patio chairs. I would recommend checking out your local Tesco store as this chair is worth £4.00. If I was being picky, I would favour a bit more padding to the chair but mostly, I consider this patio chair to be fairly well designed.

      Thanks for reading :)
