My son has loved bubbles as long as I can remember but unfortunately he has also wanted to eat the stick so when I had an Amazon voucher I decided to purchase him a bubble machine.
I chose the bright red cars bubble machine despite him never seeing the film he does love vehicles and I thought that it was something he wouldn't grow out of if he went off the program or character.
This product is currently £9.78 with free super saver delivery .It does state delivery within four to five weeks which seems an extraordinarily long time to wait for a toy.
I wrapped it up and wrapped it up for Christmas. He was instantly pleased when he opened it which mean he liked the aesthetics as he had no idea what it was.
Later during Christmas day I go it out of the box it comes with a small (4oz) bottle of gazillion bubble mixture. It requires three AA batteries which aren't included. These are contained in a box on the back that is secured by a small screw. To fill the machine you simply tipped the machine and the mixture is poured onto the bubble wheel. The amount needed is pretty much trial and error. Too much and you don't get bubbles but no point wasting it.
When I turned it on my son was ecstatic he ran round in circles dancing, in fact my avatar is him dancing around under it on Christmas day. This last minute toy was a real hit. It does make a continual whirring sound that does get irritating after awhile.
It does state for over three years old and I can understand that the turning wheel and liquid is not a great combination for younger. I have mine on the mantle piece which he couldn't reach at twenty months old but now he will stand on anything to get to reach over the fireguard to get things so I do have to be careful.
The one annoying aspect o this product is that it does leave a trail of bubble mixture and when I clean the fireplace there is a mass of bubbles mixture to clean up. I have on one occasion forgotten to remove clean laundry of that been drying on the fireguard and they got soaked in bubble mixture so had to be returned to the wash pile.
Since Christmas he regularly will point up to it and say "bub" which is bubbles. He still loves it as much as the day it was bought. I quickly used up the small bottle of bubbles and have replaced it with Tesco bubble mixture which is just as effective but much cheaper.
My son not only gets a bit of exercise running around and chasing the bubbles but the look of wonder of his face is priceless
I do find that approximately every three weeks I need to wash the machine out as the bubbles mixture seem start to slow down the cog.
One thing I was concerned about when buying this product was that it was battery and not electric and that it may drain batteries. Since Christmas I have only had to replace the batteries once. I am actually pleased that I bought a battery operated one as it means I can put it in the most appropriate place and there are no wires for my inquisitive boy to pull on.
I would highly recommend this product as I am yet to meet a child that doesn't love bubbles
