We have a couple of these kids chairs that we keep in the shed and take out on sunny days when we're spending the day in the garden. There are a number of designs to choose from, but we have the Gelert Frog chair and the Gelert Tiger chair - which are designed as fun, child friendly characters. Each chair costs £7.99 from Robert Dyas - which really is extraordinary value and I maintain is one of the best and most economical buys I have made for my children. I would say that these chairs are designed for kids between the ages of 2 years old and 9 years old - and after this is might be a bit of a tight squeeze!

The chairs are made of lightweight metal and a polyester weave seat - which combine to make a lightweight but strong chair suitable for children. The frame itself is made of steel and therefore is strong and rigid and does not warp or bend. There is a locking mechanism which prevents the chair from being inadvertently or accidentally folded up when your kid is sat on it and so from a safety perspective this is a good thing. Although made of steel, the chair is very light and is light enough to be carried even by small kids. After a years use, there is a little bit of rust on the legs, but this rust is superficial and is really caused by me being a bit careless and not putting the chairs back in the shed at the end of the day.

The seat part is made of a coloured polyester weave which is strong and also lightweight. The seat part is made to look like an animal - in our case, a frog and a tiger. The backrest is the head of the animal - and the animals look friendly and non-threatening even to the smallest child. The seat is comfortable and my children say that they remain cool and non-sticky when sitting in the seats. You can wipe the seats down with a damp cloth if necessary....which, lets face it, is always necessary where kids are concerned! There are armrests which aren't that rigid and can't really have anything rested on them - except arms.

When not being used, the chair can be folded up and stored in a bag which comes with the chair. When folded and placed in the bag, it is easier to transport and takes up much less room.

Overall, I recommend this these chairs. They are fun, compact, lightweight and durable - and kids seem to like them.

        highly recommend this little froggie

The Gelert frog chair is an excellent accessory for your young toddler camping or just using at home. We live in a small cottage so we are always on the lookout for nifty things that fold up and store easily. We have a small coffee table in our living room that is moved about and we wanted a chair for my son to sit on at the table to have his dinner. But as space is limited we needed it to store away easily. We came across this while window shopping in our local town in a walking shop. It was ideal for us. My son was immediately drawn to its fun face recognising it was a frog.

My son was one and half when we first bought this chair. That was a year ago now it still looks as good as new. As soon as we got it home and out of the carry bag my son was straight on it. He managed to get onto the chair easily. To begin with he struggled to get off it as his bum seemed to sag into it but he soon got the hang of it. He does find it very comfortable and often gets it out to sit and watch a bit of tv!

It is made of light weight metal with a polyester covering. This makes it great to wipe down when you child has made a sticky mess on it. As it is light weight I wouldn't suggest your child stands on it as it could tip but it is perfectly safe when they are sat on it. The good thing is it has a locking mechanism on one of the back legs so there is no fear of it closing up. When you open it up you just push down on it and it locks on, simple. To close it back up you just push in the metal loop and fold it up.

Once it is folded up it goes in a carry case bag. This is quite strong and hasn't ripped. But I must admit to being a little lazy at home and not putting it back in the bag very often! It does make it great for transporting it for a holiday. I often find myself taking it to my parent's house when I go with my son.

My son is now two and half and fits nicely in the chair. I'm not great on how big children are a certain ages but I think it will last my son a year or two more. The size of the chair is about 60cm from the floor to the top of the chair. The actual seat is 24cm from the floor. And the seat is square about 34cm by 34cm. I will say these are just rough measurements by me! So you can judge for yourself on what age it would be suitable too.

We chose the frog chair just because we liked the look of it but you can also get a cat or a cow one. I will say looking at all three I do personally think the frog is the nicest looking. It is a dark green with black edging. The back rest of the chair is a frog's face. It has a really smiley face with big googly eyes.

I paid around £12 when I bought it and thought that was a good price. It did just what I wanted. You can pick it up for about ten pounds now. So if you're wanting a chair for your toddler for camping or just at home I would recommend this one. When the day comes to an end and the toys go away the chair can too.
