“ Manufacturer: Disney / Type: Scooter „
For my daughters fourth birthday she was having a princess party as she is absolutely Disney Princess crazy so I decided to theme her presents to make it all very "princessy". As she had decided that she had outgrown her Peppa Pig scooter I chose a Disney Princess scooter to replace it as she really enjoyed scooting around everywhere.
The scooter came packaged in a large cardboard box which meant only one thing - it needed assembling!! As the last scooter we had was very simple to put together I presumed this would be too - how wrong was I?! It was quite fiddly to attach the handlebars to the base frame as each time I tried to tighten the bolts the bars ended up twisting and being out of line. In the end it took two of us to put it together and quite surprisingly it took around fifteen minutes in all. By this time my daughter was quite frustrated and had lost a little interest in it. Thankfully this was short lived!
The frame of the scooter is steel and it is quite solid to the touch, not flimsy like some of the metal scooters can appear to be. The handlebars are quite wide and have a tough rubber grip on them. In the centre of the handlebars is a large plastic heart which features four of the Disney Princesses - Belle, Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora. The footplate is also quite wide, much bigger than I expected it to be and that also features pictures of the same four Princesses. The scooter is a tri scooter meaning there are three wheels, one at the front and two at the back. The wheels are extremely chunky which gives a great deal of stability but unfortunately they come in white so they show every little mark on them! The scooter is extremely girly looking (which of course you would expect being a Disney Princess scooter!) and is predominantly pale pink in colour. Hanging from the handlebars you will find tassles made out of pink and purple beads which is a nice little touch.
The age range for the Disney Princess scooter is three to five years which I think is a good guide although it is quite a heavy scooter and my daughter at four does struggle to carry it - she just tends to drag it along or leave it for me to carry! It is very easy to clean the scooter, a damp cloth does the job well but the wheels do look a little grubby as even though they are rubber it is pretty tough to get them clean now.
I think this scooter is brilliant, in comparison to the last one we had the difference in quality is massive. As I said earlier in the review, this scooter is very sturdy and the wide footplate makes my daughter have much more confidence when riding along as she can fit both feet with ease and this is something she likes as she enjoys being pushed along (meaning no effort is needed from her!!). I have no worries at all when she is playing on the scooter outside as it is so sturdy so I am confident that she is safe. My daughter has now had this scooter for almost five months and plays with it most days, either in the house or at the park, even going up town so it has certainly had plenty of use and so far there is no sign of wear whatsoever other than the dirty wheels but that was guaranteed to happen.
I am really pleased with the scooter, as my daughter has been able to play outside with this one her confidence has grown hugely and she now bombs around on it and has perfected steering (something I didn't think she was ever going to manage!!!). As yet she hasn't had any accidents while playing on this scooter, now I am not saying this is purely down to the quality of the scooter itself as I think her age and confidence are a factor too but I do think that does show that the scooter is safe.
My little girl just adores this scooter, with it being Disney Princess it was always going to be a hit with her but she does feel like it is a "grown up" scooter as she did feel the Peppa one was a bit young for her! I can't think of a single negative with this scooter unless I count the time it took to put it together but that could be due to the fact I am hopeless assembling things!
You can find the Disney Princess Tri Scooter online for prices around £20 to £30 and also in some of the larger toy stores so it is an idea to shop around. I would recommend this scooter for any little girl, it is fantastic quality, looks lovely and a decent price.
Thank you for reading my review.
