      Fab pad set

After deciding on purchasing my three year daughter some roller skates, I set about the task of finding some safety gear as I knew she wouldn't be too stable on the skates to begin with, she already has a helmet so I was looking for a set of elbow and knee pads.

As always, I had some Amazon vouchers that weren't being used for anything in particular so began my search on Amazon. I came across this Hello Kitty safety pad set for around the £11 mark with free super saver delivery.

The pads come packaged inside a plastic bag with Hello Kitty branding. The pads inside include two elbow pads, two knee pads and two wrist guards. As far as safety pads go, these are pretty standard in terms of design. They are made from a hard material covered in cloth so they are comfortable to wear, each of the pads has a different size, where the elbow and knee pads have the same shape, the elbow pads are slightly smaller than the knee ones. They are oval in shape and have two elastic straps to secure them safely in place. There is a raised transparent window in the middle of each pad, I'm guessing this is so that if there is an accident and the child falls over, this takes the brunt of the damage. The wrist pads are a rectangle of material with a thumb hole and three straps to do it up, once it's in place there is a hard bit of plastic that covers the wrist area.

Each pad is totally pink in colour, the knee and elbow pads have a picture of Hello Kitty on each one whereas the wrist pads are just plain. My daughter was encouraged to wear these due to the Hello Kitty theme, should I have just got a plain set, I think I might have had trouble trying to persuade her to wear them. The set was a little on the large side when I first purchased it back in March but my daughter has grown a little in this time and they do have a nice fit now.

As far as protection goes, my daughter hasn't fallen over on her roller skates half as much as I thought she would but it has been a valuable set when she falls forward. I thought the wrist pads would be useless but these seem to be the pads that get most of the damage so definitely the best pads that are in the set. Of course, as my daughter has fallen over with these pads on they have got a little scratched but that's not a problem for me as it shows they are providing a good service!

At only £11, I would definitely recommend this Hello Kitty pad set. Each pad is pretty and pink and it makes them appealing for my three and a half year old. It gives you the reassurance that children won't be battered and scratched when they fall over.
