Once there is any sign at of the sun at all my little lad begins to get the itch to go into the garden, not just to play, but to help with the garden itself! I am quite a garden proud kind of guy so I don't like him messing too much with the plants etc but usually indulge his passion by letting him water the plants and grass in parts. Seeing as how the old fashioned watering can I use is too much for him we got him his own Insect Lore Backyard Bunch Water Can Yellow Bee which he loves and has never put down since.
I paid only £4.79 online for this and it has proved to be the best value for money gift I have ever bought him given the use it has gets and will get this simmer. The lad loves it and the design is perfect. The big bee, the yellow smiling face and the fact that it is bright yellow obviously appeals as well as the fact that having his own watering can makes him feel responsible and more like a gardener. The whole brand of Insect Lore is fantastic and I have since brought separate products from them to enhance my childs enjoyment of the garden.
These cans are made of a tough resistant metal material and will be durable and easily survive the drops, bumps and bangs they are likely to get. The lid comes off with not too much fuss and they are easily filled although poor lad cant reach the sink in my place. They get very very heavy when the water is full to the top making them hard to use and pour by kids so I suggest filling this half way and you get a manageable weight and pouring ease for your young ones.
The whole device is a well made, well designed and steady piece of kit that will last a lifetime and as a way to get your child into gardening and keeping them occupied on a hot summer afternoon this is ideal!
Insect Lore Backyard Bunch Water Can Yellow Bee
I bought two of these childrens watering cans for my grandchildren, one was this Yellow Bee watering can and the other is a Red Spider watering can, one for my grandaughter and one for my grandson for when they come to stay with me as they love watering the garden. These cost me £5.99 each from the garden centre near our local town, but you can find them on Amazon for the same price and for the amount of use they have had from my grandchildren they are worth every penny.
I like to see the kids taking interest in the garden, they come to stay with me at weekends to give their parents a rest but usually the parents come too, sometimes I think they never really have left home.
When the grandchildren do come to stay I like to play out witth them as much as possible, it's alright to let them play on the computer games but when the weather is good they love to come out into the garden.
These watering cans are from the Insect Lore range which if you google it they do lots of interesting nature type kits and toys, its a discovery range for children to get interested in nature, from bugs to gardening there's something to get them excited about.
The watering cans are made of metal and the lid comes off for easy filling, I have an outside tap so my grandchildren can help themselves to water and they are content to walk around watering everything in sight. It says the watering cans are not recommended for children under three, which makes sence as they can be heavy when full and hard to carry, but for older children this is a great outdoor toy.
It's not just a toy though its a handy garden tool for a child to be able to help out with.
The can has a large face on the front of Buzzby the Bee and is a bright yellow and black design, it's quite stricking and this is another good thing as the cans can be easily spotted if they are left outside.
I have a large garden and sometimes the kids just run around and leave things out when they forget to tidy up.
I can spot these cans fron my window if they are left out because of the very bright colours of them.
Value for money wise, they are excellent, good and sturdy, easy to fill and brightly coloured, the spout is wide so it delivers water at a steady flow and this covers a bit of ground when watering, infact I have used these myself a few times when I can't be bothered with getting the hose pipe out and just have to water the potted herbs.
If your looking for a practical fun outdoor toy which is good to hold a childs attention, then this is a winner. I'd recommend it to you because my grandchildren love it and have had hours of fun outside in the sun playing with the water and helping in my garden.
