Disadvantages: None
This was without a doubt the most loved toy I think I've ever bought, and having four kids that's a lot of buying over the years, it was sturdy and well built. The design of it was thought out and provided hours of driving. This car belonged to my son who was 3 at the time. The manufacturer recommends the ages 18mnths - 5 years, but it was used for longer than that. I paid a very reasonable price for this approx 15 years ago I think about £35. Even now that price is around the same, Amazon and e-bay are selling them for £30- £40. Toy R US have the 30th anniversary edition for £49.99.
This came without the need for much assembly (I think!). It is a simple design, there are no peddles or brakes, the vehicle is powered along using your feet.
The coupe has swivel front wheels that move 360 degrees so it's very easy to manoeuvre. The steering wheel has a horn and is also easy to turn. The car is made from strong plastic, there are no sharp edges, the body is stylish in red with an opening and closing drivers door. There is a petrol cap that opens so you can fill up at the pump- of which he also had. It has a rounded yellow roof that gives it a more real 'car feel' my son loved getting in and out of it, opening the door sitting down, shutting himself in and turning the key (just like his dad in his car!!). This model is the Cosy Coupe 2 it doesn't have a light on the top or big plastic eyes like newer models but is still available.
I think it's a good size- 43.6 x 45.4 x 79 cm, my son used it for several years and still managed to fit in it, even gave his elder brother the odd lift.
The sticker lights and grill on the front are long gone, but the coupe itself is still in one piece and will be brought out again one day when grandchildren come along (not for a long while yet I hope!). After 15 years of being kept outside the only damage is cosmetic, the colour has faded in the sun.
I would recommend this toy , I can't fault it- not even the price. It was sturdy, well built, well loved, played with alot, it never injured anyone and is still standing even though the kids hammered it!.
Summary: This was loved and played with.
