We first purchased one of these cars back in 2009. My little boy was just over 1 years old and we decided to purchase one for his Xmas present. My husband put it together so it was ready for Xmas morning.
The assembly was fairly straight forward although some of the pieces can be a little tricky. The steering wheel has to be pushed into place quite hard or it will pop out when being played with. The rest was just a case of follow the instructions, it probably took around 40 mins to put together and add the stickers.
The car itself has a few different features that make it fun for children. The steering wheel has a horn that squeaks in the middle of it, there is a plastic key that can be slightly pulled out and pushed back in, plus when you turn it there is a clicking sound. One of the doors opens and has a pull across lock on the inside so the child can lock themselves in or lock it when they get out. There is a removable floor so young children can sit in and be pushed using the parent handle on the back of the car or when they are old enough to push the car with their feet you can take it out so it's just a gap. There is also a drink holder in the back of the car for storing juice when they are out and about driving!
My little boys face was a picture when he found it on Xmas morning. He spent hours just getting in and out and closing the door. My little boy is now 5 1/2 and still loves his car. He is getting taller and struggles to get in but he is determined to keep it for as long as possible! We purchased a 2nd car in pink when my daughter was 1 so she also has a car and also enjoys playing in it. They have had hours and hours of fun playing in the garden in their cars and they are one of the best purchases we have ever made. These cars are so robust and made of chunky plastic so they seem to be pretty indestructible. The only bit that has broken is the key that is attached by a flimsy bit of plastic. Once a child has pulled the key in and out quite a few times it tends to snap and then could potentially get lost. Other than that I have no other christisiams about the car.
This is one product I would recommend anyone with small children should purchase, even if it's just to give you an hours peace it is more than worth it!
The Cozy Coupe needs little introduction. This little red and yellow car can be found in gardens and playgroups across the land.
My nephew had one and my son would always make a beeline for it whenever we visited his cousin. His Nan decided to buy him one for Christmas, when he was about 9 months. He loves this car and it is probably one of the most played with toys he had owned. My son is now 3 and this car is still going strong.
The car cost about £50, but it is often on offer, so you could probably get it a little bit cheaper if you hunt around. It sound expensive for a childrens toy, but when compared to other childrens toy, is quite reasonable.
I must confess, I left it up to my partner to put together, so I can't comment on how easy it is. My partner is now a dab hand at putting them together. From memory, he struggled with putting the wheels on as he always put them on the wrong way initially. If you do get stuck, there are some tutorials on You Tube, which show you how to put them together.
The car has a handle in the roof to allow parents to steer the car, there is also a petrol tank, a steering wheel with horn and a key. The only problem I found with the car is that the key is easily broken. I know loads of people with this car and everyone has a broken key, from where the children pull the key until it breaks. The car also comes with a yellow foot plate which can be used for younger children, so they don't fall out.
This car is built to last. We have had ours for 3 years and it still looks brand new. Admittidly, we have looked after it and kept it in the shed when it hasn't been used. Our nephews one is about 6 years old and it has been left outside - the colours have faded, but it is still in working order.
These little cars have been filling sheds for 30 years. Its a classic design and kids just love them.
Firstly, I'd like to address the subject that all parents worry about.."How easy is it to put together?" Well, on the face of it, its just big pieces of plastic, right? There's a few little nuts and bolts to contend with, and in my experience, and I know it sounds blatant, but READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. You'll come to a point (like I did) during construction where there's a point of no return. By this, I mean, once you've secured the wheels, you can't un-do it, so make sure they're on the right way around! I made this mistake the night before my little boy's birthday, and by midnight I was sawing at the thing, trying to un-do the mistake I made! Needless to say, a trip to Argos the following morning to but a replacement ensued.
Secondly, ease of use. Your child just hops in and is away! For the smaller kids, there's board that lies across the bottom of the car, allowing them to just simply sit whilst you push them around. For the toddlers, you remove the board and they speed around themselves. Its safe enough for the little ones to fully operate themselves, and getting in and out is simple.
With this car, you're really getting a good durable product that will last for years.
My mum purchased this for our little boy when he just turned one. It has been a big success ever since. It is the 2009 version.
He is now nearly 4 years old, still fits in with ease, and more importantly still loves it just as much.
The colours are great. No amount of rain/snow or whatever will fade the colour either. The surface is easily wiped clean after being out in garden during the winter.
The car features two big eyes and the front along with a smile to make it look even more appealing to kids.
The steering wheel does turn however it does not control the wheels, your child's feet will do all the work. It is easy manoeuvred also. The steering wheel features a horn that beeps which provides great entertainment for young children.
The wheels are made from hard plastic and seem very hard wearing. The front 2 rotate 360 and the back two stay in place.
The seat itself is quite spacious, and although made of plastic, still quite cozy looking.
There is a detachable key beside the steering wheel which makes it even more like the real deal.
There is also a petrol cap beside the door and even takes invisible petrol, great if you brake down on the motorway!
The door is easy open and easy close which can be locked by a little pull over latch.
The car can be used by babies also. The space where the child's feet go can be replaced by a panel which stops the child from falling through. At the top of the car at the hand is a hole, for parent to push the car along.
Behind the seat at the back of the car is a little part for the child to out things, with a cup size space also. This is great for toys also teddies also to hitch a ride.
Overall the car is very robust. My child puts it upside down and on it's side and uses it as some sort of climbing frame. Still in perfect condition despite all the abuse over nearly 3 years.
Would highly recommend this product as it will give years of fun.
We bought this for our two year old and he has already had plenty of fun with it!
It's a small, sturdy plastic car with wheels. It has a smiley face on the front which is appealing to young children.
The best price we found at the time was on amazon (£35.99 delivered). It took around an hour to assemble, and you will need a screwdriver. It was fairly straightforward.
It has a door on one side for your child to climb in and out of. They can then push themselves around propelling with their feet, or it has a hand hold in the roof for parents to push it along. It has a cup holder in the back, an ignition key, and a horn!
My toddler got the hang on this really quickly. He was able to climb in and out (in fact that is all he was interested in doing!) and he is now learning how to push himself along in it.
I'd highly recommend this product. It's well built and I can imagine it lasting for years to come, even kept in the garden. It's easy for a small toddler to function and it is often the most popular toy to be played with at toddler groups etc.
Another winner for little tikes! I would definitely repurchase.
