“ Brand: Little Tikes / Type: Water Toys „
i bought this in the sale in tescos for our son as it looks really good in the picture and he didnt have one. When it arrives the only thing you need to assemble is the legs and the slide on the side. It comes with various little toys, a boat and scoop for the water side along with funnels and water wheels for attaching to the lid part at the back, for the sand part you get a yellow digger, a spade/rake combined, one at each end and a funnel and little wheels for attaching to the back. There is also a little wheel that you can turn around and it makes waves in the water. The compartments are very shallow, approx 7-10cm in depth. The water part hold about a 1 litre jug and you only need a little sand from the bags you buy in toy shops. It has a 'road' going around the edge and inbetween the sections for driving the digger or boat around and it lead to the orange slide at the end. On assembling the legs and body i noticed it was very wobbly, the legs werent very secure, they just kind of slide in, with no type of locking system, it does seem fine once its in place and has sand and water in it but you wouldnt be able to move it without the legs falling off. We kept ours outside and the lids kept the water out and the sand clean. The water part does have a little drain but i found it often got clogged up with sand and was a bit difficult to get out. The parasol is a nice addition and helps keep the sun off the children. The table didnt fade at all despite being in the sun. It stands at a good height for toddlers and does keep them that little bit cleaner as they arent sitting in the sand. We did replace this with a bigger sand pit that sits on the ground that is more suitable for our son.
Our little girl received the Little Tikes Sand and Water Table as a first birthday present as she loves playing outdoors and had really enjoyed playing in her cousin's sandpit. This particular model appealed to us as it was raised up off the ground which makes it easily accessibly for a small child and helps to keep them cleaner (marginally so!) as they're not sitting in the sand. Also, although our child likes to play with the sand, she's not so keen on the sensation of sitting in it or having her feet touch the sand.
The sandpit comes with a couple of little buckets for making sandcastles and a riddle for letting sand fall through and a small spade. Both of these items have little holders to attach them to the side of the sandpit.
As well as the sand pit, there is a water play area adjacent, which has several play functions. There is a water wheel which turns to create little waves which make the two little boats sail along in the water. There is also a bridge to play with. So lots of little things to get the imagination going.
An umbrella and stand is integral to the middle of the table and this provides shelter from the sun on a warm day. Both the water and sand sides of the table come with separate covers so that you can keep it covered over if it's raining or if you just want to play with one side.
As you would expect from a Little Tikes product, this is a sturdy table and is a well thought out design. It is a good height for little ones to stand and play at and didn't take too long to construct by Grandpa! We purchased our one from Toys r Us when it was on special offer for £45.00. It doesn't come with sand but one bag from Toys R Us is more than sufficient to fill the sand side.
Only one small gripe is that the plug in the water side wasn't water tight so there were soggy feet for a few times until we rectified this by using a baby wipe to make the plug tighter!
Gears and gadgets, funnels and cogs make for hours of sand and water play. Raised design helps kids stay clean and reach the fun easily.
