Advantages: hard wearing - long lasting - easy to climb on - for little children - easy to build

Disadvantages: will fade if left outside

We have owned the Little Tikes Junior Activity Gym for about five years now. We didn't get it new as it was given to us by my sister in law who was clearing out her garden after giving up childminding.

The Activity Gym is basically a cube shape with a slide coming off one side. The four sides of the cubes slot together without the need for bolts or screws and each side has cut out pieces to climb through or up on. The slide part is only very short but is big enough for children up to about 3 or four. As you would expect from a Little Tikes toy the whole thing is made of brightly coloured plastic. The plastic is quite hard and not easily broken.

Ours is looking a little sorry for itself now as it has faded a little bit and as it lives in the garden it has become quite dirty. All three of my children still play on the Activity Gym even though my eldest is five. Her legs reach the bottom of the slide when she is sitting at the top but she still has a go. My children tend to use the slide quite a lot to get a better view when Granddad is going past on his tractor but they also enjoy it as a climbing frame.

The slide is still available on www.amazon.co.uk from about £60 and come in all sorts of colours now. If you look on ebay you can often get a real bargain on these, my sister got one for 1p a couple of years ago.

I have no idea how old our one is but it has lasted very well and apart from the fading which is common with Little Tikes toys it is still in one piece and has no broken or worn areas.

I would say that because of its size the Activity Gym isn't suitable for children over three or four but once a child can move climb up onto things I think they would enjoy this.

I would recommend the Little Tikes Activity Gym to anyone with young child as it makes a lovely long lasting toy for the garden.
