Fun rocker for 1 - 3 children to play on

I came to own the Little Tikes Whale Teeter Totter when a friend passed it on after her 6 year old had grown out of it.

The Teeter Totter is a rocker that can be used by one child (sitting in the middle) or two (with one on each end) or even three with a third seated in the middle.

It's very sturdy, but light enough to move around easily in the garden. It's made of blue plastic, with a moulded seat at each end. The seat is a slightly different shape at one end to make it look like the whale's tail, they are both equally as comfortable though and equally weighted. Both seats have yellow plastic handles, these can also be used if the child is using the middle seat - whatever way they are facing.

I'm a bit fan of rocking toys, I believe they really help with balance when first learning to walk and on-wards. My youngest is now four - he still enjoys using this. Even my eight year old gets on 'to help his brother' of course! Although it's not really made with that age in mind.

It's stayed in the garden for over two years and hasn't faded in that time and isn't showing any real signs of wear - despite it being second hand. The only annoying thing is that it seems to have collected lots of rain water inside and sloshes around when rocked (for that authentic sea effect). This is a little annoying and there doesn't seem to be a clear way to get it out! For that reason it loses a Dooyoo star.

Aside from that it's a popular toy in the garden for my four year old, other children around that age and younger also seem quickly attracted to it when they come to play.

It's easy to clean and wipe down when needed, I'm sure when my youngest grows out of this it will live on for another child to enjoy, it's that robust.

      **Availability**

Available on Amazon RRP £34.99 but at the time of writing it's reduced to £29.74. They are also readily available second hand, they seem so robust that they seem to last.

        perfect for preschool aged children

The Little Tikes Whale Teeter Totter is a great little seesaw for young children.

I really like the whale theme as it makes it stand out from other seesaws. As it is a turquoise colour it is perfect for both girls and boys.

The children where I work love to play with this seesaw when we go outside and the seesaw itself has been there a long time and lasted through the constant battering from children. It has also stayed a nice bright colour and not really faded at all.

The seesaw is a hollow plastic and hasn't broken or cracked. The children like to go really quickly so it is constantly hitting the ground. I wouldn't expect it to break easily though as Little Tikes always produce high quality toys.

Although we have the seesaw outside it could be an indoors toy if you had the space.

The seesaw has a curved bottom which has a scalloped edge for the children to put their feet. This gives a good grip and helps preventing them from falling off. There are yellow handles on each side for gripping on to.

There are three seats, one in the middle and two either side. This is a benefit as it means if only one child wants to play on it they can by using the middle seat or if two or three want to use it they can too.

Children find it easy to move the seesaw and have great fun going up and down without falling off. I say that but two of the children did have a game once to see who could fall off first, thankfully it was on grass.

It works best on grass as if they fall off they don't injure themselves but it can be used on hard surfaces. The only problem with hard surfaces is that the seesaw starts off in one place and gradually shifts to somewhere completely new.

The seesaw is really light and easy to move but it is rather big so has to be left outside. Being outside it can get dirty but the plastic makes it easy to clean with a damp cloth.

This toy can be bought from argos for £35. It is well worth the money.

It is recommended for children over 18 months but I have one at home which I have used with a one year old. I have to hold onto him whilst a child was on the other end. At work I use it with 2 to 4 year olds which I think is the best age as they can do it themselves.

The maximum weight for the toy is 23kg. It takes a lot of weight though, I have gone on it with children before.

I can't fault this cute little whale. All children should have one.

A great outdoor toy that will last.

I was looking for a rocker type toy for my twins and wanted something that they could play with together. Most of toys I found were only suitable for one at a time so was really pleased to find this. The Little Tikes Whale Teeter Tooter allows my twins to play together or on their own and their is also room for a friend to join in too. They loved it from when they first climbed on and there was a lot of laughter!
There is space to sit either end and in the middle all allow little ones to hold onto the yellow handles which are the ideal size for little hands. The side of the whale has wavy foot rests to help your little ones keep their balance whilst on the toy. My little ones were too light to be able to see-saw it by themselves when we first got it but it was quite easy to rock it for them. The age range is 2-5 years so I'm hoping to get plenty more use from it.
It comes in bright blue with whale eyes on either side and has weathered well so far as you would expect from the Little Tikes brand. It has stoppers on the bottom to allow you to fill it with sand or water although we have never had any problems using it empty. At just over a metre in length it doesn't take up too much space in our small garden.
The Whale is designed to be an outdoor toy but we have used ours indoors when the weather has been bad which has added to the use we have got from it. Definitely a good addition to any collection of outdoor toys.

Another great outdoor toy from Little Tikes

Because my home is regularly used as a meeting point for play dates I was keen to purchase some outdoor toys for when my home is taken over by my friends children (who range from 9 months to 4 years) and also for my 18 month old twin boys to use. At the playgroup we go to my boys are fascinated by the seesaws as are most of the children so I thought the Little Tikes Whale Teeter Totter would be a great choice.

        ***Little Tikes Teeter Totter***
The Little Tikes Teeter Totter is blue plastic whale shaped see-saw that is suitable for 1-3 children. The see saw has 3 "seats" with two handles. There is a seat on either end of the moulded plastic whale shape which as a rocking base for the see saw to be used in the traditional way with two children on it. There is also a "seat" in the centre of the see saw which would allow a child to play on the see saw on their own or for a third child to play on the see saw as it rocks.

Size wise the Little Tikes Teeter Totter is 105cm long and 46 cm wide. It is 36cm high. The see saw has easy grip handles and wide foot rests in order to children to hold onto the seesaw easily.

Little Tikes state the seesaw is suitable for children over 18months.

The Whale Teeter Totter is available from Toys R Us, Tesco and Amazon. The RRP for the toy is £29.99 which is considerably cheaper than traditional larger "seesaws".

        ***Playing with it***
The Teeter Totter requires no assembly it was a simple case of just bringing the toy home and letting my boys play with it. I say simple, however this is quite a bulky item as you purchase it as it is therefore make sure you have someone to carry it and space in the boot of your car or are able to transport it home easily. The toy is not heavy but is awkward to carry and hold onto for long periods because of its size.

Little Tikes states that the Whale Teeter Totter is suitable from aged 18 months and over. I must admit because my boys had been playing with one of these at the toddler group we go to I purchased this at 14 months once they had started walking and allowed them to play on it with VERY close supervision. We had been given an individual outdoor Little Tikes see saw rocker so my boys understood the concept of the rocker, but part of the reason I purchased the Teeter Totter was so they could play together and share rather than try and drag each other of the rocker only designed for one child.

I did however find that when playing on the Teeter Totter the boys required a lot more supervision that on the individual rockers because of the design of the larger rocker. Firstly the Teeter Totter is higher than a typical individual rocker. When rocking with one child on and sitting in the middle seat (in between the handles ) a younger toddler under 2 years old may need some help getting on and off the toy initially until they gain confidence to do this on their own. My boys at almost 19 months can get on and off themselves but as the toy is around 46cm high they often get their leg stuck as they climb off, to which they usually shriek "mum mum mum". I also have noticed that when only one child is rocking in the middle seat, the see saw does not rock as much (or as high) as an individual rocker, which I feel is part of the reason that when we have the individual Little Tikes rocker and the Little Tikes Teeter Totter in the garden all of the children seem to be drawn to the individual rocker rather than this Teeter Totter.

When two children are playing on the toy (one on each end) it seems to be a very enjoyable toy especially as they can look each other as they rock but for parents of younger toddlers (under 2's) I do feel you need to closely supervise. The seats on the end of the Teeter Totter are completely flat with no backrest therefore your child can slip off. There is no harness to hold your child onto the seesaw therefore your child staying on the see saw is completely dependent on them holding on to the handles in front of them. For over 2's they seem to understand this concept but as my 19 month olds and my friends 22 month old have shown, lapses in concentration can result in them slipping off backwards (luckily with mummy at arm's reach away!). You also need to take care with under 2's that if one child attempts to suddenly get off the older child isn't catapulted. On a few occasions I have had to practice my catching skills because my friend's daughter has jumped off or one of my boys have.

For older children they really seem to enjoy using as a see saw and can build up a lot more speed rocking back and forwards than if they are using individually. My friends three year old and neighbours three year old playing on this together is quite scary to watch as they rock back and forwards but because the toy is so sturdy and does not tip is actually quite safe. Like most see saws it is probably better to have children of a similar size and age playing together to get the most enjoyment out of the toy. My friends three year old gets quite frustrated when playing on this with an under 2 because the toy does not rock as much and also younger children can't push off their legs to create the same rocking movement.

When using with three children together this is a great way to encourage children to play together but space on the toy is limited. For younger toddlers it is very easy for three to play together but as they rock they do lose eye contact and you find one child has to look at the back of the head of the child in the middle. This frustrates one of my twins in particular and he will usually try and push the child in the middle out of the way, whether that be his brother or another child. The Teeter Totter does not rock as high or fast with three children playing on it which for younger toddlers is desirable (for parents) but for children over 3 years old seems to cause some frustration. Getting 3 children over 3 years old onto the Teeter Totter is also quite difficult because space is limited and you do find that there is a tangle of arms and legs and usually a child complaining that they have been kicked by one of the others as they rock.

Durability wise this toy appears to be very durable. The hard moulded plastic that the see saw is made from is easily wiped over with a cloth and ours has spent most of the summer outdoors. The colour of the see saw has not got lighter either from being out in the sun or faded. Obviously after only 4 months of play I would not expect this toy to be damaged or showing signs of wear and tear but I have friends who have owned this toy for over 5 years and describe it to be in as good as new condition. I did notice in Toys R Us when purchasing this toy there were cheaper versions of this toy available. I did consider these but firstly they were larger and more bulky (at the base) and I also felt the plastic they were made from was more flimsy and the handles also felt quite flimsy.

        ***Overall***
This a great outdoor toy and both my children and my friends children love to play on the see saw. I have however found that the individual see saws are more attractive and if it is a choice between the Teeter Totter or the smaller individual Little Tikes rocker my children and other children who visit our house always seem to prefer that one.

This is a great toy for those with more than one child and to encourage children to play together but also versatile that one child can play with it on their own. Although suitable for 18 months and over I do feel this is a toy which is better for children over 2 years up to aged 5. Although for children over 3 years old I feel that the see saw is a little too small for three older children to play on. For children under two you need to take care and supervise children to ensure that they do not fall backwards as they are rocking because there is no restraint to hold them on the seat it is basically dependent on them holding on.

For £29.99 a reasonable purchase that is durable and fun!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Popular with parents and children alike.

If you are a parent of a pre-schooler, you cannot have failed to notice the ubiquitous 'whale teeter totter', at children's parties, toddler groups and nurseries etc. This in itself speaks highly of the product- anything that can last in these rough and tumble environments must be well made or not well used, and this product is certainly the former.

At around £25 from a variety of children's toy retailers (ELC and Toys R Us to name a couple), this sturdy toy for indoors or outdoors is an absolute must-have for years of play for your little ones. The manufacturer recommends that this see-saw rocker is suitable for children from 24 Months - 5 Years, but Baby Frank has been playing on hers since around 12 months (with close supervision of course) and now, at 15 months, is able to get on and off without much adult intervention at all. The maximum weight per child is 23kg.

The product is a rather bulky 105cm L x 43cm W x 36cm H which comes in a box proportioned 116cm L x 45cm W x 106cm H. The Teeter Totter is designed to accommodate 1, 2 or 3 children which is great for when friends come over to play, but also not restricted to having others around. It is made of robust plastic and can survive all that the English summer (and probably winter!) can throw at it. It is chunky, with 'easy-to-grip' handles for little ones, and has a foot rest that runs the length of the rocker for the children to put their feet on. It seems very safe as the riders can't get any body parts trapped under the rocker as the footrest prevents this. Other children clamouring around for their turn however, may get their toes underneath, but I think this is a minor risk.

This is an excellent, robust toy and well worth the money.

Great fun for children of all ages

As part of our garden collection we have a green rocker made by little tikes it is the same as above except our is green. They cost around £15 to buy and we brought ours from Asda. It is described as a whale as at 1 side of the rocker it has eyes and a smile and I suppose it is meant to be the shape of a whale either way my children think it is cute.

It is around three feet long and has a seat on each end. There is a raised platform at the bottom of the rocker so that children can rest there feet comfortably on there and there is a handle bar at each end for the child to support themselves while seated on the see saw. The children then rock back and forth and enjoy them selves on the see saw.

There is a space in the middle which can be used by a third child or by a child using it by themselves so it has varied ways in which it can be used which is great when you have such young children as sometimes they do no want to play together.

As with all little tikes toys it is extremely well made and has lasted the last year and a half without any problems. Its light weight but not so much that it blows away when its windy as I have problems with other garden toys.

Its recommended from 18 months plus however my 1 year old son uses it no problem just needs a little assistance from mummy yet my 3 year old boy still loves it too. I love this toy as it can be used for playing on your own or as co operative play. Its cheap but very well made and has given my children hours of fun it is always a hit with visiting children too.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            A classic outdoor toy

Little Tykes make great outdoor children toys, usually made out of hard wearing plastic they can withstand the weather if left outside. We own several little tykes products some of which aren't in the Dooyoo catalogue but this one is. The whale teeter totter is a little seesaw which costs around £10 and is capable of entertaining two children at either ends of the seesaw.

The totter is approximately three foot long, has two slightly raised seats and at both ends of the totter is a bar which the children can grab. The totter has a convex bottom which pivots on the bottom of the base and therefore causes a seesaw motion which the children can rock backwards and forwards to create a seesaw motion. There is a raised ledge running along the bottom of the totter which the children can place there feet on, the larger children can keep there feet on the ground but the totter is relatively heavy in relation to the under fives so even 4-5 year olds can't use their strength to push the other child over. The fun aspect of the toy is of course that two kids can play on the same toy at once and can stop arguments over toys, at least if only 2 kids are around.

We have two boys under the age of 3, they are very competitive and what one has the other also has to have, one is a year older than the other and therefore tends to get his way but with this toy both boys can play together on the same toy. They can sit at either ends, can rock backwards and forwards and grab the bar so ensuring safety. They can't push the other over, though they have tried and they can't move the totter around very easily once sat upon it.

The totter was bought during last years summer, it got plenty of use by our older boy but now the younger boy is walking around and playing he has found the toy this year since the weather has improved. So for £10 we have had a toy which has sat outside all winter, has come through largely unscathed and both boys are enjoying playing with again this summer.

If you put this toy on grass then any parent can put two children of two or older and watch them play with a degree of safety.

            A classic toy!

A classic garden toy that provides hours of amusement

This is a garden toy that we have had some time now in some ways I think this is one of the most classic garden toys that you can buy as I see it in so many gardens around where we will live. I think the reason that the Little Tikes whale toy is so popular is that it is a simple but fun toy for children from toddlers upwards.

              What is it?
              *********
For those of you unfamiliar with this blue whale they let me describe it. The whale is made out of robust blue plastic. The whale is made on a rocking base so that if you have two children they can sit at either side and use it like a traditional see saw. Little Tikes also claim that a third child can sit in the middle as it rocks too. If you have only one child they can sit in the middle and hold on and use it in a similar way to a rocking horse. The whale as part of its moulded plastic design has some waves that it sits on to give the illusion of riding and swimming amongst the waves and the children can rest their feet on these curves. There are bright yellow handles for your little ones to hold on to as they ride the whale and the whale itself has a very cute looking face.

              In use
              *******
We bought ours at a car boot sale and I have to say we have had a bargain buy as my son loves playing on this in the garden. The plastic even though ours was second hand is still a bright blue and hasn't shown any signs of fading in the two years we have had it. There are no cracks in the plastic despite it being rocked on grass and concrete patios. The only time that it can show signs of wear and tear is if it is left out in the winter the water curves of the waves can take on a green mouldy quality but after about half an our of cleaning with Dettol spray and hot water this soon comes off.

We find that he enjoys playing on it on his own in the garden when he is sat in the centre and he often pretends to be a pirate riding the whale. He has also used the whale as part of imaginative play when being a pirate with his daddy as they trying to run/swim away from the whale and pretending it is a shark trying to get them

On the times we have had his friends round they have all enjoyed taking it in turns to ride the whale in a see saw fashion. However I have found that they don't really like three children being on it together. I think for the boys playing it is because they then can't make it go as fast and high and equally they can't all see one another. Where as if there is just two on it they can laugh and smile at one another.

Though this can be used inside as well as out with have always kept it outside as at 3 and half foot long it is just too big for our small lounge.

Though this toy can be used from 18 months up when my son first started playing with it around this age he would prefer to be on it just by himself and in the centre with my holding his back to give him a sense of security. This is my only real criticism of the toy is that for children at the younger age range of the toy they can feel a little vulnerable on it and if it had a detachable harness for the smaller age group that could be fed through some holes or just clipped in place it would be perfect. As it is now that he is a dare devil of a 3 year old he doesn't mind there being no straps in fact I think he wouldn't let me put them on if it did have!

They call this toy a teeter totter whale but in my opinion this name suggests something that is not substantial which is not the case as the whale in our garden rides majestically up and down on the waves to many shrieks and giggles without teetering or tottering over.

              Overall
              ********
This is a classic garden toy and is a worthwhile buy for any family in my opinion. The price tends to be around £30 from new from retailers such as Tesco and www.adventuretoys.co.uk I think this is a toy that lasts well. It is often found cheaper at car boot sale and my advice is if you see one get one as it provides hours of amusement for the 2-5 year old age group. The toy itself is well made and ours even though second hand shows no sign of damage despite the whale riding roughly on the waves.

A great outdoor toy for chidren 1yr to 5y (and adults too)!!!

I was given one of thes little tykes whale see saw when my son was one and it was one of the best gifts he received and we still use it now four years later with my two year old daughter. This is a great see saw if there is only one child in the home as it can still be used by the child sitting in the middle great!! Also when the childrens friends come round you can get three on at once much to the amusement of them all. The see saw is made of very sturdy plastic and wears well through the years. Mine has faded now but this does not ditract from its use and it is easily cleaned and durable. We have just purchased a bigger see saw to accomodate my 5 yr old but they still tend to go towards this whale, it seems to be more fun for some reason!! i don't think I have any negatives towards this apart from when i sit on the end with my son and he jumps off I fly backwards but all good fun, I would recomend this as an essential garden toy which can always be brought inside in the colder weather if you have the space for it.

Great unisex toy and pretty good value

My review of the Little Tikes Cosy Coupe mentioned my Dad's bargain hunting technique at the local rubbish tip, and this whale teeter totter was purchased in the same way - for another whopping £2.

I must admit to being not to pleased when my Dad phoned to say he had purchased a large blue whale for the garden for his beloved grandson, but when it arrived I was very pleasantly surprised.

The whale is made of sturdy blue plastic and is basically a very safe seesaw. I must admit that I think the character design is a bit yuck - the whale looks neither cute or very happy, but as a piece of design it is very clever.

Although it is designed for two children to play seesaw, and there are two sets of handles at either end, it is possible for one child to sit in the middle of the seesaw and rock it back and forwards by himself. As it is so sturdy, I have no problem with my little one playing by himself as it would take a pretty severe rock to turn the seesaw over. Supposedly you can fit 3 children on it, though I think it would be a fair squash to do that!

This whale is pretty big - over a metre long, so will be wintering outside, so I am hoping for not to much colour fading, though for £2 I can't complain if it does fade!

The seesaw is recommended for between the ages of 2 and 5, so quite a long lifetime for a toy. It retails at £24.99 from Amazon, and given the longevity of the toy and that it can be enjoyed either alone or with another child I actually think that is pretty good value. If you have the space and little ones to entertain, I think this whale is well worth it.

                  SEE SAW

I bought one of these little tikes teeter totter's in a car bootsale for a great price of £2!! It was like new and I was really happy with this bargain. It is a seesaw type toy, made from plastic. My teeter totter was green in colour. The colour was not really bright and for a childs toy I thought it was a little dull. But for £2 I wasn't going to argue about the colour.
This toy has two seats on either end. Also it has two handles so that each child can hold on. Then the children gently see saw to make the toy rock on it's arch base.
My children do enjoy playing with this toy. It looks good in the garden and because it is made from plastic it is hard wearing. I have left ours out in the rain and it still looks good. Although the children do seem to get bored with this seesaw quite easily. Also it can cause arguments if one wants to play and the other doesn't.
I find that a good thing about this toy is that it can be taken up to my fathers when he is looking after the children. It fits easy into the back seat of my car. So it can be transported with the smallest amount of effort.
I had a real bargain with this toy. I don't think it it is worth the full price of £20 though. I just don't think it is entertaining enough.

Your child will outgrow it by the time they're about five so buy it while they're young

My parents have a habit of buying my children the biggest toys in the world, mainly, I think, to annoy my husband who thinks that we don't have enough room. Recently my Dad bought my boys a Little Tikes Whale Teeter Totter from a car boot sale for £5.00.

The Little Tikes Whale Teeter Totter is a solid, plastic, blue seesaw. Even with the one we have being second hand there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. As far as I can tell there is no fading on the colour, it is still a bold blue colour. The only thing I could point out is a few scuff marks underneath and on one side but even these aren't obvious, how often do you look at the underside of a seesaw, unless you're clinging on for dear life and begging your brother to let you down as you can't hold on much longer... but less of my happy childhood, I believe that the previous owner had a child that had outgrown the Little Tikes Whale Teeter Totter. I can imagine that by four or five a child would be too big to sit on and ride it without their knees knocking their ears. There are three seats and only two sets of handles, the only drawback. My seventeen month old, who's the same size as a ten month old, is just about tall enough to get on and off unaided. He loves to sit on the middle seat and rock himself while singing seesaw majorie daw. My three year old prefers to sit on one end with someone on the other and seesaw properly. I'm looking forward to when there all my sons are big enough to play on it as with three seats none of them will be left out although with only two sets of handles I can see ructions ahead, although the person sat in the middle doesn't need to hold on as they are secured whichever way they are facing by having back behind them that will stop them tipping off. The children on either end have a seat with no back and so the handles are necessary to keep the child secure.

I would recommend this for anyone who has a child younger than five. As long as you child can sit up themselves and understands to hold on it is a nice toy for them to play on. Children who aren't physically up to climbing may need help to get on and off but should be able to rock themselves. Great for one, two or three children to play at anyone time. As I said earlier my Dad bought ours for £5.00 but even at £35.00 I would consider it good value, it's safe enough for tots with the fun factor that makes them want to learn how to climb on it themselves and also how to rock it themselves. The Teeter Totter is a good toy to help children develop gross motor movements. Five stars due to the quality of the seesaw and the enjoyment my children have on it.

A Wicked See-Saw For Little Kids

I bought this Teeter Totter from a car boot a few weeks ago and paid £2.50 for it, I think I got a mega bargain there because the price to buy one brand new is £29.99 and my 2 year old sister has played on it so much that it would even be worth paying the full price for it.

It's a see-saw in the shape of a whale and has been made to fit children from 1 1/2 to 5 years, my sister was already 2 when I got it for her and she was fine on it from the frist time but I think you'd have to be a bit careful putting a smaller baby on there because it can go quite quick and be especially careful if they're playing with an older brother or sister who might be a bit too rough.

The see-saw is made of very thick plastic like most other Little Tikes toys, it's the same colour blue as you can see in the photo Dooyoo have got up but the handles on our one are also blue and not yellow like in the photo. It's a very sturdy toy for in the garden and the see-saw is curved just right on the bottom so that kids can enjoy the feel of being on a see-saw but it will never go that high that there's going to be a risk of them falling off. Well there's always a risk but what I mean is that the see-saw won't tip them over the handlebars or anything like that.

It's shaped so that it looks like the whale is sitting on a wave and that's where children put their feet so they're not dragging on the floor and that also lets them move their bodies to get the see-saw going. It's dead stable and even on the grass the see-saw still works perfect, we thought it might have been better on concrete but that's not very safe and was surprised that the see-saw keeps it's rhythm so good even on our lawn.... and it's not the straightest and most well looked after lawn ever! lol

When our cousin comes over he plays with my sister on the see-saw and it's deffo more fun for 2 kids to play on, my sister can still use it on her own because there's always one of us there to give it a push but she LOVES the feel of sitting on it with Ethan because they're a similar weight so the see-saw rocks lovely and smooth. The handles are chunky so that she can get a good grip of them and they are inserted safe into the whale so that they don't fall out of twist round or anything like that.

Another thing my sister likes doing when she's on her own is sitting in the middle of the see-saw and rocking it by herself, and she also enjoys putting her dolls and teddies on each end and giving them a push. She got a bit annoyed one day when she put Peppa Pig on one end and sat on the other end herself but she's sussed out now that toys can't help rock her so she has to kind of just get on with it now!

Recommended..... a brill outdoor toy that kids will love in the summer!!!

                  Highly recommended

My son owned the Little Tikes whale teeter totter before he was born. It was given to us by a friend who had twin boys that had outgrown it so it was stored away until he was old enough to play with it.

The Whale teeter totter otherwise known to us as the see saw have been a great asset to our garden since my son has turned into a toddler it went out into the garden where it has remained for the past year and a half.

As it was gifted to my son I am unaware if any construction was required but it is mostly made from pre moulded plastic. The whale appears to be floating on a sea of water which doubles up as a foot rest for the little ones feet.

I have found this doesn't seem to be currently widely available but may be a seasonal item. I see it in toys r us last week but it doesn't appear to be on the online catalogue currently. It is priced between £29.99 and £34.99 and suppliers can be found by searching on www.littletikes.co.uk. The little Tikes website recommends this toy from ages two years to five years.

The toy is 105cm long x 43cm Width x 36cm High and I have seen it in both blue and green. My son has the green version. I was a little unsure how useful it would be with my son being an only child but it has turned out to be perfect. He sits in the middle when he is playing on his own although at times he will just sit on the end and needs to be prompted to sit in the centre. He also often plays with two young girl neighbours aged two and four years old. The older two children tend to sit on the outside and the youngest sits in the middle. This does mean it doesn't matter how many want to play there is always room although as they get older seat position seems to be more of a battle but everyone does get to play.

This is also used at our local indoor play centre on soft play mats and is loved by many of the young toddlers who visit and it is always good to have a toy to share. It seems to be enjoyed equally by both boys and girls

This toy is sturdy and robust and has been outside all winter but shows no sign of damage or fading from the sun.

This toy has created hours of fun and in recent weeks while my son's speech has been progressing on the few sunny days he has had chance to play in the garden he has been singing at the top of his voice "See saw Marjory Daw" which makes my heart melt although not sure my neighbours feel the same way. I do recommend that it is used on a soft surface as we have had the odd spill. The toy itself has a large base and has never tipped over.

I would strongly recommend this toy no matter how many children you have as it has avoided many arguments over sharing and it is a toy that will last for many years.

                    A must have garden toy.

I have twin daughters and this was the perfect see-saw for them. It acts as a normal see-saw so when they want to play together they can sit on either end, but when 1 wants to play on her own then she can sit in the middle - genius! They have played on this since approx' 18 months but I'm sure that they could have used it sooner than this. They are now nearly three and although they haven't physically outgrown it, it doesn't give them quite enough 'rock' anymore. Saying that, I will be holding onto for a while yet as their younger cousins love playing on it when they come round! It has stayed outside all year round and shows no signs of deteriation of colour fading and there seems to be no possiblity of breaking it! This is such a well thought out toy that I think every family should have one!
