Advantages: Nice looking set and good quality

Disadvantages: my kids find the game to be boring

Over the years we have accumulated loads of Mookie toys. I find them to be really good value for what you get compared to other brands of toys that can be really expensive and not very good quality.
I bought the boules set thinking it would be a good game that we could play as a whole family. Unfortunately it didn't really hold the kid's attention and the balls are now used more for playing catch with the dog than anything else though I still like to make them play a proper game of boules every now and then.

The set comprises of eight different coloured balls, there are 2 yellow, 2 green, 2 blue and 2 red. You also get a smaller ball called a jack. The idea of the game is a simple one and it is to place the jack somewhere in the distance and then throw the boules to try and get as close to the jack as you can. It is really simple but quite addictive when you get started. Unfortunately I think that the game is a little bit old fashioned for most kids and I actually think it would appeal more to adults especially competitive ones like me.

The boules themselves are really good quality and are made of toughened plastic and are weighted to help you throw them accurately. The toughened plastic is really strong as I can testify to as I have had to rescue the boules from the mouth of my dog several times.
The set comes with a plastic carry case which is great in theory but this fell apart not long after buying the set so I now have to store the boules in a basket in the shed.

There isn't a lot to this game and it might be a little old fashioned for some kids who are used to toys with bells and whistles but it is a nice gentle game that is a throwback to a simpler time and if you can get your kids to actually play it then they will probably enjoy it. The set is also great value and only cost me around about £6 or £7 so it is very affordable.

Summary: A nice boules set that is wasted on kids
